No.

Boeing 777-200LR arrived this morning to MEX, it comes as part of the world tour, but this is not AM 777.

AM's 777 is due in on Feb. 16 2006

As stated above it's not AM's. It's Boeing's 3rd B777 doing a W.T. and stopping @ MEX just like it did in 1994 with the B777-200 and in 1998 with the B777-300ER.

Tomorrow AM will do several and very IMPORTANT announcements. AM has made a recent proposal to the board for the 3rd B777 for del. in October of 2006 and the 4th and 5th frames for 2007. It is said they will confirm the B737-800 AND... a new order for a different type my come... (info I ignore)!!! Could be either B737-900ER or B7877777!

The Wordlider rulllezzz!!! Her entrance in to MEX was just how I was expecting it....!!! Why MX went Airbus banghead}!!!

Wow, I will be checking a.net every few minutes tomorrow to read what the announcements are all about. I hope AM's board authorizes the leases of more 772ER's (by the way, would they all be -200ER's?). A five 777 strong fleet would allow 11 weekly MEX-MAD flights, at least one daily MEX-CDG flight, one daily service to GRU and 6x weekly flights to SCL as well, wouldn't it? I guess if more flights are added to these destinations, the remaining 767ER's can do the job (and be used for the MTY-MAD flights as well). I will keep my fingers crossed.

As for the 737-800's, that's good news too. I am sure they will be useful for the flights to ATL, MTY and MIA. Any idea if they will be wingletted too?

With respect to an order for a new type, I honestly think it is better to be skeptic, so I will not be counting on that. If it comes, it will be the cherry on the cake, though!!!

Next flights: MEX-GRU (AM 77E), GRU-GIG (JJ A320), SDU-CGH (G3 73H), GRU-MEX (JJ A332).

AM could fly to LGW if it wanted, but it is not interested; it wants slots at LHR. Unfortunately, AM has not been able to get those slots and it probably won't happen.

Ok!! This are the latest NEWS...!! I'm glad you haven't pasted anything that the Mexican media wrote yesterday with information all mixed up!!!

I yesterday was there during at the press release by the airline, they confirmed AM has sent a fleet plan to CINTRA's board counsel which is pending for approval only. They assure that they have arranged the slots with Boeing for delivery in the next years.

If approved, that plan includes the introduction of 15 aircraft for 2006 and 2007, which includes:

06 B737-800W. (2 for del. in '06 and 4 in '07)
08 B737-700W. (for del. in '06)
01 B777-200ER. (for del. in October of '06)

This ONLY needs CINTRA's board approval. As soon as CINTRA gives green light AM will disclose it. I expect a confirmation in the next two months given the fact that CINTRA's privatization process will be starting soon!!

But if Skyliner site is correct, AM has 12 additional orders for B737-700Ws for del. in 4Q of '07 and 1Q of 2008.

AM currently has 16 B737-700Ws + 10 or 12 new due for this year which makes 26/28.

If all this plans finish as planned and if no changes or additions come after, AM then will be flying a fleet by 1Q of 2008:

46/48 B737-700W.
06 B737-800W.
03 B777-200ER.

AM recently negociate and got good leases for some MD83/88s and they will keep them a little longer till 2008, they will retire a couple of MD87s but they will keep the best in shape till 2009. I don't know what the rest of the fleet will look like. B757s will certainly be gone by then and there's an unknown status of the B767 fleet, one sure thing is that AM will retire the MD82s between this year and the next one.

Awesome! I really feel very happy that AM will be ordering the -800W. It is just what AM needs for its MEX-ATL flights. Maybe they can also be sent to MIA, LAX and IAH if demand exists. I expect to see them flying between MEX and MTY on peak days and times, and perhaps between MEX-CUN during puentes and the summer season. How many seats will the 738W's have? 148 (12 J's and the rest Y's)? And of course it is also great news that more 73W's are coming! As for the MD-80 retirement, I am glad the 88's are staying longer because their interiors have been nicely retrofitted and AM offers very generous coach cabin seat pitch. Are the 83's going to have new interiors as well? Finally, the arrival of a third 772ER by the end of 2006 is fantastic news. I hope that with this third triple seven AM can operate only 772ER's to Europe from MEX.

So, what should we expect as MD-87 replacement in 2009? More 73W's, perhaps some -600's or, better yet, EMB-195's?

Next flights: MEX-GRU (AM 77E), GRU-GIG (JJ A320), SDU-CGH (G3 73H), GRU-MEX (JJ A332).

According to a diagram I saw, 24J and 132Y for 156.

The ones staying, yes.

Certainly more B737s!! And probably a few more B738s for the rest of the MD80s. Will be interesting to see what will replace the B752s... I don't see the B738s as 757 replacement or flying MEX-LIM or JFK!!

I guess so!!! Currently ILFC has lot more orders than GECAS. BTW, forgot to mention, there are rumors around of bringing forward the 1st B777 a month earlier, this is, getting it by January instead of February. Don't know if that's possible, can anyone confirm?

I am surprised that AM will have so many J seats in the 738's. 24 is just like in the 752's. Hopefully AM will have those seats filled with full-fare paying passengers because that ought to improve profitability.

Quoting Ghost77 (Reply 20):

While CO flies 73G's and 738's between MEX and EWR, I also do not see AM sending 738's to JFK because this is a route that has huge demand, and sending a smaller plane would be a bad idea. If AM keeps its current 767ER fleet once the 772ER's start to arrive, perhaps AM could send the 763ER to JFK! As for LIM, I wonder if the 738 has the legs to get there non-stop from MEX fully loaded with pax and cargo. If all the 752's are gone and AM is unable to upgrade LIM to 767ER service, I guess we will see AM downgrade the service to 73W's, giving LA and AR a huge advantage in terms of offered seats.

By the way, will the 738's have blended winglets too?

I would think so too. However, the range of the -900ER is pretty much the same as that of the -800, which means it is not an adequate 752 replacement. Nonetheless, AM might surprise us and place an order for a few of them; after all, AM was always considered as a potential launch customer and I would not be surprised if Boeing asked for AM's input for the program. In the meantime, I am so happy that 738's are coming to AM. They will look fantastic in AM's colors.
