There are some rumours in hte brazilian press this morning that VARIG's CEO Fernando Pinto might be fired today (OGLOBO newspaper reports.)

There'll be an extraordinary board meeting today on the matter and it seems that the board is split !

Let's see ... the former CEO of Transbrasil (Mr Cuoco) is one of the candidates in case MR Pinto can't hang on !

What is the reason for his dismissal? I recently read in a magazine that he is a very good CEO and that he has turned Varig around despite the Brazilian economy's poor health.
