Effective IATA Winter 2005-2006, KLM will have the right for 14 weekly frequencies into India, up from the current 7. Next year, that number will further increase to 21. As a results of the limited number of frequencies, KLM does not put its code on NW's AMS-BOM flights, and KL is unlikely to do so for the soon to start AMS-BLR flight.
KL uses 7 weekly frequencies for the AMS-DEL operation, and is rumored to add to that thrice weekly AMS-HYD operations. I believe it to be unlikely that KL would use the four remaining frequencies to simply add its code to some NW-operated flight. I fully expect KL to add another 4 flights of its own. Candidates are MAA, BOM and CCU.

Airline to boost presence in India, will fly state of the art 777 aircraft to Delhi
KLM Royal Dutch Airlines will be launching flights between Amsterdam and Hyderabad in India on commencement of the forthcoming winter schedule. This represents KLM’s first initiative in response to the recently expanded airline rights obtained for operations to and from India and a further expansion of KLM’s global network from its Amsterdam Schiphol hub. KLM’s partners Northwest Airlines and Air France will simultaneously initiate services to Bangalore in South India from Amsterdam and Paris respectively. Launching the new flights will serve to strengthen SkyTeam’s position as the No. 1 alliance in the rapidly expanding Indian airline market.
Effective October 30, KLM will initiate thrice-weekly service between Amsterdam and Hyderabad on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays, operating MD-11 equipment. These flights will connect well with the transatlantic services operated by KLM and Northwest at Schiphol. Additionally, KLM will be increasing capacity on its daily service to Delhi by deploying Boeing 777 equipment instead of the MD-11.
On commencement of the new winter schedule Northwest will initiate daily roundtrip flights between Amsterdam and Bangalore using Airbus A330 equipment. At the same time, Air France will start operating five roundtrip flights a week between Paris and Bangalore using A330 equipment too.

Clearly stated in this press release... KLM's first response. More action is likely to follow, and with both NW and AF heading into BLR, I'd say KL to MAA seems more and more plausible. Unless AF-KL prefers to strengthen its presence at BOM.

As I mentioned in another thread, KLM is known for going into non-traditional long-haul markets - Kano, Kilimanjaro, Guayquil, Manila - and doing well at it. I wouldn't be surprised if they go for Kolkatta instead.

The Wed dep ex HYD is clashing with the LH departure an hour earlier.
LH operates Wed/Fri/Sun ex HYD. Pity, they couldnt reschedule to Thu instead of Wed. But anyway, the market is large enough.
