I wonder who might be the customers for the Russian A 340? I mean apart from the CIS airlines.

I can't think of any other than the CIS airliners, Cuba and.....Venezuela ?
President Hugo Chavez is a big friend of Fidel Castro and closer to Russia then to the US.
Although I don't believe that Conviasa will switch its plans from Boeing to Ilyushin, there are sometimes political issues if the airline (Conviasa) is state-owned.

Aeroflot has been planning to buy 6 IL96s since a long time.
Krasair had some plans as well. But it usually takes a very long time for Russian airlines to make a decision.
