Nice website. I like it too. I guess they're hoping more people will book on DL now that the website is 'attractive.'  Big grin

Hope it works! Cheers!

Glad to see it is not working 100% in Safari. One would figure that they would test at least the top three internet browsers for compatibility before uploading a site. They probably couldn't afford that anyways. I like AirTran's new one better.

Oh yes. Can't leave out Safari?????

"KHTML-Based Browsers (Konqueror, OmniWeb 4.5+, Safari, etc.): • The reported percentage of users varies a lot, likely in large part because some stats sources are not properly identifying these browsers. • I suggest that ~2% typically use KHTML browsers — the great majority being Safari users — with the number likely to rise slowly as more OS X users switch to Safari: however, the fact that only ~4% use OS X puts a cap on how many will eventually use Safari. Nice!

I never found their old site particularly adventurous, this new one seems to add a bit more warmth and colour. It seems to be working fine in Firefox for those who are interested.

Cheers,
Ian.

So because IE is used by more than 85% of people, that is all the website should be designed for? Mozilla based browsers are used by less than 10% of surfers, and that is the number two!

Whatever happened to designing a website based on standards that should render correctly in nearly any browser? What is the point of having standards if they are not adhered to? Even still, wouldn't this be tested for cross platform compatibility at the least?

Two percent in lost sales due to careless design is two percent that did not have to be lost. Hopefully the money is spent better elsewhere.

IE, Mozilla, and FF render fine over here. It still bothers me that they wouldn't test a default operating system's web browser before going live. On the other hand though, this is better than those damn Dayport video viewers on news sites that immediately lock out non IE browsers.

I, as a Safari user, am tired of having to put up with web pages designed to accomodate Internet Explorer's complete inability to render standard code correctly. Microsoft is the most complacent company of all time, and their products are only passable examples of whatever idea they represent. I hope their complacency comes back to bite them sometime.

Looks stunning, huge improvement from that yee-old classic one they were using (what a pain and loaded slow as hell for me!).

Loads very fast now and works great, A+

AirTran also released their new web design a few days ago...Theirs looks stunning too! (A+)

Wrong. But, just think of how much nicer the design would be if it functioned properly.

The subtle changes made for a nice look. It appears to complete the brand a little bit more than the old design. Also, regarding the DL site, it is nice to see that they are taking what works from Song and implementing it (as best they can) into their main product. I have thought that the overall design of flysong.com was lightyears ahead of delta.com since it first appeared. Although, I have not stated this yet, I like the design. I'd just like it better if it worked.  Wink

And I, as a Internet Explorer user, on both OS X and Windows XP am tired of having people complain because they don't like the way someone does something, if you don't like it, don't use it. If you can't use it, but don't want to use what will make it work, don't use it at all.

Either way, great job Delta! and AirTran! and United!

I complain because it's sad that Microsoft has abused its near-monopoly by passing off inferior software on so many people, all of whom apparently know nothing better. Microsoft has done a great job of following the actual innovators in its industry, and provides mediocrity as a result. Unfortunately it is too easy for other companies to stoop to the same mediocrity out of laziness.

A cross-platform IE user!  Confused

Charlie, you should really look into using other browsers. Firefox on Windows blows IE out of the water on numerous levels. And just about anything besides IE on Mac OS X has been updated twice since IE's last update; talk about legacy software.

I have been complaining about the DL site because of exactly what you said:

Quoting Syncmaster (Reply 12):
...if you don't like it, don't use it.

I would not want to be the one telling my boss we had lost 2% of sales because we did not thoroughly test our website.

Very fresh look! They added a few features. The lowest fare available feature is nice, but the fare isn't put to the top. I wish you didn't have to click on the numbers to get the news and offers. It would be nice if they just scrolled or something like that. I know they want to make the site less cluttered. I like the idea of a themed destination though. I think it is a great business move. The only complaint I have is that my laptop runs at 1600x1200 resolution so the main picture shows up on the side instead of below.

Very impresive and a welcome change from the older "look".

I also like the fact that you can now check reward seat availability on most major international routes although I think they added this just before the new version.

Quoting Zone1 (Reply 16):

Agreed. I would have liked to see the lowest price option first. I usually use the advanced search option and search by schedule. Good thing is that if the fare is not the cheapest you can simply click 'back' and select other flight options without having to refresh the page.

Overall, great job Delta!!!

cheers

The new site is very cool indeed.

However, my one question is, what's with the Saab 340 being listed on the seat maps? Did I miss the announcement someone was going to fly Saabs for DL now?

I suppose it could be for NW Saabs, but if that's the case, why isn't the ARJ listed as well?

I'd take the awe of understanding over the awe of ignorance any day.

It flunks....F!
You have to click a few times to lay out an itinerary. With CO, NW, UA and Airtran, its all right on the first page. There is no going from page to page to find what you want to book. The old Delta site had this on page one with airlines mentioned.
Delta...go back to the drawing board. This is not what the air warrior wants.

Now, if DL could only find a way to introduce interactive route maps ala Southwest or at least as a PDF ala Continental, and for crying sake's update the damn airport maps. I mean, just look at the FRA map and you'll see what I mean.
