I was reading a post about the noiseiest airliners you ever herd, and in one of the replies it was said that UPS 747-100 was louder than a RAF VC10 at take off and landing. I find this heard to believe but you never know. So I am asking anybody who live near an airport that get UPS 747-100 to confirm this. Thank you.

Well, i haven't heard a 747-100, however, all of UPS's 741's are fitted with chapter 3 hush kits, while the VC-10 ( i believe) isn't, therefore , the VC-10 would be louder, especialy if the VC-10 had NO hush-kits , although i doubt that would be alowed any more

Really no need to start another thread, you could have asked this in the noisiest airliners thread. Regardless, AFAIK military aircraft are not required to be hush-kitted. I believe that the UPS 741's meet Stage 3 req's thus the VC-10 would be far louder. If you want to hear a loud airliner try a USN C-9. Those JT8D's are not hushkitted and are so loud that they crackle on takeoff.

I work at UPS home base at SDF, and I can tell you this much: I have never seen a VC-10 in real life so I don't know how loud they are. But a UPS 747 taking off from 17L over the UPS parking lot will set off EVERY car alarm. The other UPS aircraft will set off 1 or 2 alarms, but the big girl takes the cake. And if they take off from 17R on the other side of the airport, you will hear the deep whine of the PWs the moment the plane begins its takeoff run. The others you don't hear until they are pretty much airborne.
