I'll spend a day for spotting at DUS on Thursday (4.8.), where I'm planning to hang around at the various observation decks. Anyone interested in joining me?
I arrive at 9.00 in the morning and leave at 18.30 in the evening.

Regards
Udo

Currently I am in the DUS area to visit my parents. I don't know if my mother needs her car on Thursday afternoon, if she doesn't need it I will show up at 2 or 3 in the afternoon. And since we have a car, we can have lunch in one of the best pizza restaurants I know, and additionally we can drive to another nice spot which is not reachable when you go by foot (but it depends on the approach direction).

Patrick

Edit: Don't try to use the people mover to get to the observation deck on the train station, this piece of crap is out of order again (for the millionth time now). There are shuttle busses instead.

Oh no, what a piece of crap. Do they even charge money for the bus?

Ok, I can confirm that I will be there on Thursday, I'll arrive around 2 or 2:30 PM.

Quoting Udo (Reply 3):

No, the shuttle bus between the airport and the train station is for free.

I'll be arriving on LH883 (16:20) anyway - where will I meet you and how will I recognize you?  Smile

all subject to my business appointment in DUS not being changed of course...

Ok - just booked my ticket... no flight, there's just nothing flying between HAJ and DUS, so I'll be taking the ICE.

I'm arriving on ICE 944 @ 11:57, I'm leaving on ICE 645 @ 19:00... with those train numbers the whole thing at least looks like a flight...  Wink

See you all on Thursday... Big grin

Regards,
Frank

The best thing is to exchange our mobile phone numbers by eMail, then you can call us when you arrived and we can tell you where we are. It's the best solution because DUS has so many places for spotting and it is rather difficult to say where we are at your arrival time.

Cool Frank, I am looking forward to meet you.

Wow, we are already four A.netters, I am surprised that so many people attend despite it is a rather spontaneous meeting within the week.

I am looking forward to Thursday!

We don´t have good alternatives. And AB is going to be a Snoob-LCC. Very expensive this year.

The meeting with Udo (Udo), Frank (Leskova) and Frederik (DTManiac) was very nice, cool that so many people showed up despite it was a rather spontaneous meeting within the week.

Udo brought me a nice wheat beer from his hometown in Bavaria, I am just drinking it and it is excellent!

Indeed we had a great meeting! It was very interesting and funny to chat with Patrick (Sabena332), Frank (Leskova) and Frederik (DTManiac) while spotting nice aircraft in the background.  bigthumbsup
Our "anti-LH conference" was finished successfully, with intensive analysis and new ideas. Publication at a later date...  stirthepot

I will write a trip report about my dba flights and include a "DUS a.net meeting" section, along with some pictures...amongst others showing a historic "Bavaria-North Rhine-Westphalia beer swap"...  drunk

Great to hear you like it! The beer you brought me is still in the fridge and I will drink the first bottle in a few moments...  yes

I was surprised that this historical Bavaria-North Rhine-Westphalia beer swap wasn't featured in the Tagesschau tonight.  Wink I am looking forward to read the trip report!

Quoting Udo (Reply 20):

One good tip, never drink a Hösl first and Erdinger afterwards, I just opened an Erdinger and it is not tasting as good as the Hösl.

I hope you enjoy it, these are my favorite Pils and Alt brands.

Hey guys,

thank you for that nice day at DUS. Its always funnier in a group than being alone on the observation deck. I am really looking forward to reading Udo's trip report.

I am sitting here with a Kronen Pilsener which is of course by far not as good as the Bavarian stuff, but "Hopfen und Malz, rein im Hals" or something like that.

Regards

Frederik

Definitely, it was great today!

Hey, don't make our NRW beer bad.  Wink If you are a Pils or Alt fan, NRW beers are definitely the best, but I am a wheat beer fan and I have to agree, the stuff from Bavaria is definitely the best. By the way, I used to drink a lot of Kronen, definitely a great Pils.

Quoting DTManiac (Reply 22):

Truer words were never spoken! Big grin

Give me a call or shoot me an email when you want to drink a beer in Bochum, I will be there when I am in the area as well! Then you can finally have a nice Currywurst at Dönninghaus and afterwards a few nice beers in the various bars in the Bermuda Dreieck!  bigthumbsup
