Only 1 NW 747-100 Still In Service

All NW 747-100 have been withdrawn from service except for the first 747 to be delivered to NW: N601US. Some of the aircraft are scrapped in maxton, North Carolina. NW had 10 747-100 since 1970.

Here is N601US seen in April, 21 2000.

N601US looks like an almost new plane to me. Great to see the oldest 747 still in service with its original operator.
I thought NW retired it at the beginning of this year.
Its definetely worth to be donated to a museum rather than to see the scrappers torch soon.

When my mom was working for Northwest Orient...I flew on this 747.....glad to see it still flying....frankly, I would like to see NWA keep flying it as a backup or whatever...let it be a "flying museum" for all of us....

N601US is still flying between MSP and Asia.

Only NWA 747 on the AMS-DTW route should be a 747-400. There's also a KLM 747-200SUD/300 and a NWA DC10.

AMS-DTW is either going to be a DC-10-30 or a 747-200.

I see N601US at MSP all the time. It seems to just go to Osaka and Tokyo and back. The 747-200's at MSP typically go east from here, with the exception of the seasonal MSP-HNL flight.

I've see a 747-400 at MSP every great once in a while, but I don't know if it's scheduled service or just in for maintenence.

Should be only classics. However some printed timetables like United's just simply has B747 for every model.

Amadeus or NWA timetable only has one NW B747 flight AMS-DTW, a 747-400. Are you sure it's not the codeshare operated by KLM (NW8617)?

You say the 747-100 goes from MSP to Osaka? Four years ago, I flew on a 747 from MSP to Osaka, It was either a -100 or a -200. I can't tell the difference. ...maybe???
I'm pretty sure it was a 200, what do you think?

(BTW...I thought today MSP-KIX is operated by a -200. Did they change that?)
