Anybody know what may become of the commuter terninal at BWI? It's the one located on the lower level of the D pier. I remember when it was used heavily back in the day when USAir had it's hub operation at BWI. The terminal was used exclusively by the USAir Express carriers and it had quite a few number of gates. I took an Air Tran flight recently out of the D concourse and before my flight boarded I had some time to spare so I decided to check out the commuter terminal. Other than a few PIT and LGA flights, operating only out of two gates,it was a near ghost town! Quite a contrast from a just a few years back, seeing all those other gates empty and boarding areas darkened. Too bad Air Tran abandoned its "Jet Connect" brand. It would have been perfect for the Air Wisconsin CRJs. I'd hate to see such a perfect piece of building with such potential go to waste.......or meet the same fate as PIT's E concourse. Any possibility of future tenants..........US Airways Express building back up or Air Tran Jet Connect being revived......using the terminal?
I used all of my sick days, so now I'm calling in dead.

Not much is going on over here,Usair usually has about 1 plane an hour over there be it a Dash-8, CRJ, ERJ or J-41. During the main "push " there are 5 to 6 planes sitting there. At night Airtran parks 2 planes on the other end along with an American ERJ and a US EMB-170 for overnight parking.Hopefully somebody will do something with it.

Gate space isn't very crammed at BWI right now. Construction is going on where Southwest had their 4 gates on Pier C, but to the best of my knowledge they won't be using that space anymore with their new Pier A/B. Anybody have any idea who moves there?
I've always thought the commuter terminal, once demolished, would make a nice 4-5 gate extension of that end of Pier D, but there's not a need for that to take place now, if at all.
