List Of Names Of Frontier's Animals

Frontier's employees have a contest to name the animals on its new aircraft. The latest round included a/c 934 through 938. It's a great marketing tool. Passengers always ask what animal they'll be flying on. Yesterday, I flew Trixie the red fox pup from RNO to DEN and Carmen the otter from DEN to DFW.

Frontier has recently began to install a poster of the animal on the tail just inside the aircraft door to the right on the bulkhead wall.

This list is available on Frontier's employee web site. I hope some of you find it interesting.

Cheers

I'd love to fly 901,920,941, too bad you can't pick the plane you fly on  Smile

Desertwolf, You seem a little bias. The polar bear cubs are my favorite. It was the first F9 plane I flew on (ATL-DEN). The picture was taken in 1996 I believe at the Denver zoo. There was a nice documentary about the two cubs. I have a model with the polar bear cubs on order right now.

I quite like Hector. But Lockon gets it right - check out N937FR:

Mariner, I will do everything in my power to campaign for you next round. You definitely deserve an animal named in your honor. How about a flamingo?

I think they should resurrect the Pelican and Puffins from the 737 fleet on the A318s or A319s.

King, have you hit the Trinity Railways Express since we took it to Dallas last time? BTW if you're not who I think you are then what I just told you would make no sense whatsoever.

I suggested an albino alligator, but I guess it's a little too mean looking for the kids. Those are beautiful animals though, and very rare.

I'm kind of dissapointed with the latest batch of names, but maybe that's just me.

N943FR has been on property for a few weeks now and has a deer in a field of yellow flowers (former Boeing tail). It apparently has not been added to the intranet.

I wonder what tails are awaiting us....

And yes, I agree that "Hector" should be "Mariner." At least that's the name I put in when the contest opened.

Cheers!

These are all very nice animals. But a bit predictable. How about some less loved of God's creatures:
- a big rat
- a skunk
- a mole

And why the mammalian and avian bias? Plently of others fit the western frontier image:
- scorpion
- tarantulla
- rattlesnake

When and why did they change the origional Mariner?

Quoting FLAIRPORT (Reply 10):

"mariner" was never an 'official' name for the aircraft, Flairport. They said at the time that the name would not be used in the way that Griswald is for N801FR.

It was unofficial, a bit of a joke, and was somehow tied up with the time I was leaving the States to live in New Zealand.

Joe Hodas, head of press at Frontier, was the one who started it.

King;

That's a great idea! Let me amend my previous comment:

Hector still sucks! N937FR will always be Mariner....unless a flamingo tailed aircraft gets the honor of M's tag.

The names are not printed on the tails. The names are on the posters inside the aircraft.

But then of course, they are missing the most famous of all western animals - the jackalope.

I don't know why but Frontier has switched two of the animals names, the Otter and Mariner's Blue Crowned Conure. Tail 937, the Blue Crowned Conure, is now named Carmen and tail 935, the Sea Otter, is now named Hector.

This isn't an animal, but I think it would be a great tail for Frontier to have on one aircraft, just at Christmas:

It would probably be expensive to do, but I bet it would get some mighty attention.

Good theme...wouldn't it be cute if we had a "Rudolph" aircraft with a red nose? Or maybe we can put a red nose on Jack, like we did in some advertisements last Christmas. It would be so festive.  Smile

I would love to see a panda bear on one of our tails...that would be one cute aircraft!

Cheers!

How about a Moose?

And I think the name Esmeralda or Bogart would be appropriate.

You;re right, there was supposed to be a moose.

Last summer (?) they had a big to-do for their five most Frequent Fliers - they all got a trip to Iztapa/Zihuatanejo, flights, hotels, etc.

But the five also got to have lunch at DIA with CEO Potter et al, and the one with the most miles got to pick an critter photo for a new plane.

He picked a moose.

It has not turned up yet.  confused
