Miami Dolphins Change Charter: Now With DL!

The Miami Dolphins made an interesting change, from profitable AA to subpar DL. They will still be flying the 767-300 (not sure if it is intl config or not)...I know that AA would give them the 777 for some games, so not sure if DL will do the same. Before we assume that this is permenant, did AA not have planes available this week for the hall of fame game?

DL9828 TOMORROW:
DEPARTS----------ARRIVES
ATL 4:25am (D33) FLL 6:00am (jet center)
FLL 8:00am (jet center) CAK 10:40am (unkn)
CAK 11:25am (unkn) ATL 1:05pm A12 (which would make it appear to be domestic config)

Also, anyone have info on the Atlanta Falcons charter from Japan?

They're flying on JAL. Left Tuesday and are scheduled back here tonight around 11:30 pm (left Tokyo around 4 am Tokyo time).

Its a domestic 763. Was scheduled to be a 757 before an equipment sub on DL's part.

DL is also slated to take the Dolphins to PIT later in the month.

It's a big building with patients, but that's not important right now.

It may simply come down to cost. If DL offered better rates for charters than AA, any organization will go with the lower price.

I know that the Cubs flew DL during the 2003 NL Championship Series, flying into FLL.

Might be easier going out of FLL then MIA

(unless they flew out of FLL with AA which would then make my comment irrelevant)

Poor Delta, and poor 767  Sad I hope they decontaminate the a/c after the Dolphins fly on it.

and regardless of DL or AA, the Dolphins will still probably suck this year (don't flame me, I too am a Dolphins fan).

Maybe they'll have to install a few new vending machines with munchies for their star running back...

Hmmmm...

Generally, these contracts are announced later in August. Could be that this was a one-time or two-time charter.

I'm not so sure that the "changing from a great AAirline to sucky Delta" attitude is appropriate. Another person might say that they are ditching a bunch of AAs#(*@! for friendlier folks. It's all how you see it. It's certainly not objective. Doubtless, if DL got the business, they offered better price and service options; simple as that.

I wonder whether World will keep the Jax Jags and the Bills this year, or whether even they will expand.

Best,

Bill

Haha! That was a joke, man...DL is my favorite airline, I hate that AAirline.

Thanks, Rich. Any particular reason given? Too disruptive to AMC stuff to do two teams? Jax is much closer for initial positioning? Someone else offered a better price?

Just wondrin'...

Bill

Um, actually AA does have the REGULAR SEASON contract with the Dolphins. They only went with a different carrier for the preseason stuff which included the hall of fame game.

Oh, and AA has never given the dophins a 777. The contract is for a 757 and AA will try to provide a 763 to the Dophins when they request it and one is available.

I thought they had their own 737. I've seen, as a matter of fact just last Thursday when I flew back from CMH a 737 in a hangar at the North end of the airport...

That's W. Hizenga's personnal BBJ. The first completed one from what I understand.

Does any one know who the St. Louis Cardinals (baseball) use for their charters? I'm assuming AA and prior to that TWA, bu I am not sure.

Sweeet! I am not only an avid Dolphins fan for many years now, but also a Delta guy, being I live in KSLC. So, GO PHINS! Flairport, can you let me know somehow when these flights depart and where? I would love to fly them myself. As far as Ricky is concerned, whatever jokes you want to make about him are well deserved... He has a heck of a lot to make up for!

FLL is a better airport when flying to and from Pro Player stadium. It is much faster to get to. And closer.

MIA is hell.
