AA Admiral's Club Access?

I will be flying DFW-MIA-LIR in September, returning LIR-MIA-DFW; both legs on AA. The DFW-MIA legs are in "First" on 757s, the MIA-LIR legs are in "Business" on 738s.

Our layover in MIA on the return trip is just over 3 hours. Assuming we clear customs in a reasonable amount of time (doubtful at MIA), will our First/Business boarding passes get us into the Admiral's Club at MIA? I'm AAdvantage Gold, but my wife has no elite status.

Just curious.

They should. I have no status whatsoever with AA but my first class ticket MIA-JFK let me use the lounge. Bear in mind the lounge is before all the security. Also, AA let me use the Admiral's Club at JFK with an Aer Lingus business class ticket. You should be fine.

There are two lounges at MIA. The new one is past security.

If you are lucky and have an AA flight out of the A gates, then try to get into the British Airways Terraces lounge. Sometimes they are nice about letting AA flyers in.

You should be able too. If AA is anything like US Airways, they should allow you to bring a guest into the club, and you should be allowed free access to the club as you were on an int'l flight, regardless of your class of service.

Simply being on an international flight does not get you access to the club. If that were the case, the clubs would be packed with every Tom, Dick, and Juan coming off international flights. You need first, business, or full fare coach tickets to get the free pass in, which you have, so you are fine.

I think he is considering if the flyer is an Elite member of AAdvantage.

Forgot that. When I went to the lounge I had passed the security checkpoint (Concourse E is it?) and went back outside to use the lounge.

It does not matter if you are an elite member of advantage or not, if you don't have a membership, or if you are not traveling on a qualifying ticket, you can not get in. They don't allow Elites in just because they are elite. That's insane. Again, every single on of them would be in there. Think of it as a pay to use facility, with very few acceptions for free rides.

Exactly. I know that I am permitted entry to ANY Star Alliance lounge, regardless of who I am flying, if I travel internationally as I am a US Airways Gold Preferred (equivalent to AA's Platinum level).

So you're telling me if I was an AAdvantage Platinum member and say an Emerald or Saphire OW member and had X,000s of elite miles and one day I decided to fly in the main cabin, I would be denided access? I beg to differ. What the hell is the point of being platinum then? Just boarding before the others?

In my company, my boss is an elite member of OW plus elite member of AA, EI, BA, CX, and some Skyteam and Star Alliance airlines. Half of the time, he flies on shorter intra-Europe flights in economy, esp in the early morning. Nonetheless, I have made use of the priority line for elite members on several airlines, just because of his status.

Sorry AA757, I think you're wrong.

On your ticket you and your wife will be allowed access the Admiral Club:

International Premium Class Passengers

American Airlines First Class# (including eligible guest) and Business Class passengers traveling on, or connecting to or from, an American Airlines international* flight have access to the Admirals Club lounge on the day** of their international flight.

#International First Class passengers may also use the Flagship Lounge facility, where available.

*International is defined as Europe, Asia, Central and South America, and Mexico City.

**Connection must be in conjunction with international segment. Stop overs are not permitted.

From what is looks like, since you are travelling internationally through Miami, you and your wife will be able to access the lounge.

I'm going to be blunt here: YOU'RE WRONG.

We are not talking about a onewold issue, we are discussing an AAdvantage gold member getting into the A Club flying on a First Class Domestic Ticket.

#American Airlines passengers must be departing on an international flight. International is defined as Europe, Asia, Central and South America, and Mexico City. Excludes American Airlines passengers traveling on solely North American itineraries. North America is defined as U.S. (including Hawaii and Alaska), Canada, Mexico (except Mexico City), Bermuda, The Bahamas, and the Caribbean.

Furthermore, not that this even applies since the thread starter is only gold:

*AAdvantage Executive Platinum® and AAdvantage Platinum® members must be departing on a oneworld operated/marketed flight that day. Excludes AAdvantage members traveling on solely North American itineraries. North America is defined as U.S. (including Hawaii and Alaska), Canada, Mexico (except Mexico City), Bermuda, The Bahamas, and the Caribbean.

Under that scenario he would not even be allowed into the club. Per the AA website, you have to have a membership, or buy a one day pass for $50. Falling back on Oneworld, a Ruby member, which is the Gold equivalent on Oneworld has no access to the club, unless they buy a day pass.

Since he does not have appropriate status, no free access to the club. End of story.

It is all there. Don't be blunt. Just read.

Dan, read the AA website, not oneworld. Gold members on a domestic first class flight have ZERO access to the A club unless they buy a day pass.

Agreed. They most likely will only be allowed lounge use in MIA before his departure to LIR. However, in my experience, they will possibly be allowed to use the MIA lounge after their return flight from LIR, depending on how nice the folks working at the club are feeling that day.

Hmm, but the good thing is as BA Silver (OW Sapphire equivalent to AA Plat) I get into Admirals Clubs on any AA ticket, coach, business, first etc whereas an AA Plat can't....the bad thing is that it's an Admirals Club  Sad

My dad is Platinum on AA and cannot just wander into the A Club. To get into the club you need a pass, or a premium class ticket travelling internationally. When I went to ZRH from AUS through DFW in 2001 in Business Class, we were allowed admittance in both AUS and DFW... and I was told that if you have a premium cabin international ticket, it equates to the same as a one day pass. Things may have changed since then, but I know that the only way we get into the Admirals Club now is because AA keeps sending my parents free passes to them trying to get them to join/rejoin the Admirals Club.

Just my two cents.

OK, according to AA's web site, "American Airlines First Class and Business Class passengers traveling on, or connecting to or from, an American Airlines international flight have access to the Admirals Club lounge on the day of their international flight."

And, under the examples, it shows that a person traveling AUS-DFW-LGW in First or Business is entitled to Admiral's Club access in both AUS and DFW.

Therefore, by my calculation, I will be allowed to use the Clubs in DFW and MIA on both my departure and return trips.

Anyone disagree? See the Admiral's Club Admit Policies.

What about tghis case with my dad this weekend..he is flyinf CCS-DFW on Business class/First (the ticket says Business class, but that plane is only equipped with two classes, so I guess its First) and then DFW-COS on regular coach....he has like a 6hr lay over in DFW will he be allowed into the Admial Club in DFW....what will he need to show?

BTW, He is AAdvantage memeber....but not elite/gold etc just regular member

25 Brokenrecord : Yes, he should be allowed in. In his case he should only need his boarding pass from CCS as he is in a premium class for the flight.
