The closest I can think of is Ansett Australia.
The Big irony is the AN operates NONE of the flights.
Air NZ from SYD to LHR, SIA from LHR to SYD...with AN codeshare.

My mistake........
It should be Air New Zealand, NOT Ansett.
Air NZ flies it's own aircraft from SYD-LAX-LHR.
It has codeshare with SIA from LHR-SIN-SYD.
I believe it is the closest for a single airline.

I flew MEL-AKL-LAX-ORD-EWR-LHR-SIN-MEL on an around the world ticket with UA and SQ last year. This was in J class but is also available in Y class. You can find details of RTW tickets at www.travel.com.au. This is where I found mine. It shows all the available deals along with conditions etc.

United will restart round the world services in April of 2001. This flight had been cancelled last year due to poor loads in Asia. The routing will be Lax-Iad-Lhr-Del-Hkg-LAX.

The British Airways (BA) / Qantas (QF) Alliance would be able to do this for you.
Syd - Lax - operated by QF
Lax - Lhr - operated by BA - QF code-shares on it I believe
Lhr - Sin - both operate flights
Sin - Syd - both operate flights

It has been announced to travel industry that Qantas will be operating the current British Airways route between Los Angeles to London in return for Qantas' route between Sydney-Perth-Johannesburg which will be operated by British Airways.
The reason behind this was that aircrafts be utilised better by using them more efficiently rather than sitting on the ground incurring costs.
Therefore, having said this, Qantas will be the first airline to operate the SYD-LAX-LHR-SIN-SYD. I hope this answers the question that others waffled on with saying SQ and UA. The truth is Qantas and only oneworld alliance can offer this option. Go the oneworld alliance....keep up the great work.

Im almost dead certain that there is no "round the world" airline. However, soon Qantas will take over BAs LAX-LHR route making Qantas the only round the world airline. This is due to take place sometime in the next 12 months.
BA is soon to start operating London, Johannesburg, Perth, Sydney, Singapore, London. In both directions. Thats will be a 4 continent flight, thats pretty big!

As previously mentioned, UA is scheduled to resume their UA #1 and UA #2 flights: IAD-LHR-DEL-HKG-LAX-IAD in both directions. Thus, is seems as if UA and QF will be the only two round-the-world airlines. Personally, I'd rather fly QF... the service and cities are better!

Just hope you will clarify some doubts....
1)BA's LAX-LHR route is a third/fourth freedom right. If QF is to fly that route, that makes it a fifth freedom right. Does QF have the fifth freedom to fly out of LAX ??
2)QF's SYD-PER is a seventh freedom "cabotage". Is BA allowed to fly the domstic route of Australia ?? If it can, do you think other non-Aussie airlines can apply to fly too??
3)If BA operates Perth to Johannesburg, what typ of freedom is it??
4)With regards to any truth in the above, is freedom of rigths transferable ?? What do thety look for in freedom of rights in the QF case, the stake in QF by BA? or is it the registration of the plane / registered carriers?

From what I understand is QF will operate LAX-LHR on their own aircraft and BA will codeshare on the flight. I did hear that BA were pulling out of LAX completely, leaving the LAX-LHR route to QF.
I also heard that the SYD-PER-JNB flight will be operated by BA aircraft, BUT BA will not be able to carry PER-SYD-PER traffic as no international airline has the authority to uplift domestic traffic in Australia.
I posted a question a couple of weeks back concerning foreign carriers operating domestic flights in Australia. The only one that I can think of is Air Nauru, as it operates under an Australian OC and its 737-400 is registered on the Australian registry (VH-RON). Air Nauru fly Nauru-Brisbane-Melbourne, but from what I can ascertain they do not uplift BNE-MEL traffic. Is this allowed under their AOC?

There was someone that flew Air Mauritius from Melb-Per last year. It even made the news
They were going to Mauritius, however they apparently became extremely ill in the 4 hour leg and was forced to finish there flight in Perth. So technically, that classes as a domestic flight
