In this picture taken by a Mumbai spotter.Whats the Dark spot on the Tail section.Is it Oil leak or just a Photo defect.

Looks like a bird or something. Not sure, I am sure if it were an oil leak you would see it all running down towards the ground.

On another note, when is AI going to update their livery? I think that pattern and colors have been around for over 30 years, if not more, and it's looking mighty archaic emblazoned on a modern state-of-the-art aircraft like a 777.

In the late 1980s Air India updated its livery. The result was a wave of protest which ended up with questions in Parliament.

After a couple of years, Air India gave in to overwhelming pressure and reverted to the livery adopted for the original 747s in a move not dissimilar to BA abandoning the "World" tails

They tried it for a small duration with no success & then reverted to the old Livery.Which personally I think looks great on the B747s.
