In Nov. I will be going to Hong Kong . Since I was able to recieve this CO flight on miles . I have a little bit more money to spend . So I am planning on spending some time in Beautiful Sanya .
However , I am finding it difficult to decide which airline to take since I am finding it a rather arduous task getting info regarding these Airlines so I can book the flight .
Dragon Air seems to be the most economical .
China Southern is rather exspensive and CR airlines I believe just flys those smaller regional jets , which I am a bit reluctant to fly in due to there small size .
Can anyone provide any information regarding the best way to and from Sanya from Hong Kong ?

what was the price on Dragon Air? This is a reputable airline and that should be a non-stop.
I don't hink CZ would do HKG to sanya nonstop. The most economically way would be to fly from CAN. Of course you'd have to hop on a train from HKG to CAN (Guangzhou) or Shenzhen. All other means probably would make flying from CAN un-attractive. If you can manage that, then the reward may be substantial. I personally flew from CAN to Sanya on a 60% discount fare, which was like $35US. But that deal might not always there. So, my recommendation, if you are on a tight schedule, go with Dragon.

CZ, KA and N8 (CR Airways) all fly direct to Sanya from HKG. Personally I'd go with KA which is a great regional carrier, but I'd not worry about taking either of the other two. CZ uses the 757 and the CRJ200 that N8 uses are "new and nice" according to a friend who recently flew them to Laoag!
KA used to have a cracking Friday dep after work, returning Sunday night - perfect for those weekend golf trips. Sadly they've changed the schedule to less friendly times for us people with day-jobs!

If I recall correctly , about $275 US dollars .

Yes , I agree . I flew Dragon air to Guilin from HK once . Nice new Airbus . Not sure what type though .

CR's flights I believe cost around $400 US big ones . I haven't heard of KA airlines . I'll check it out . Most flights seem to be cheaper in mainland China . Down by Hong Kong , things appear to be a bit different . Hong Kong is such an incredible City .
I don't believe Hainan Airlines has a flight from Hong Kong . I was suprised to learn of that ! However, another good option .

What airline did you take ? China Southern ?
Quoting 6thfreedom (Reply 5): Get the bus across from HKG to either Guangzhou or Shenzen, then take a flight down to Sanya or Haikou?
Think I may give this a try . But I love Hong Kong's new airport , though !

I was in Sanya last year for a week. Great beaches, great seafood restaurants. I stayed at the Holiday Inn Resort. If I were you, I would take the Dragon Air flight (KA) without a doubt. I have flown them several times between Hong Kong and the mainland and there is no comparison. I flew China Southern (CZ) last year from Beijing to Sanya in F and it was less than I expected. The plane was from the merged China Northern airline and smelled like a herd of livestock was transported in the cabin on the previous flight.

Spend the extra money for the Holiday Inn Resort. Most of the Hotels are not "on the beach"
1/2 way decent in China is not the same as 1/2 way decent in the USA.
The waves are small, much like the Atlantic in the southeast USA.
Taxi drivers get a kick-back from restaurants to bring in tourists, I had a chinese speaking girlfriend with me and we got free taxi rides to and from restaurants. This will be more difficult to negotiate if you don't speak Chinese.
Go to the seafood restaurants where you pick your meal from the dozens of tanks lining the walls (there are quite a few of these restaurants).

I just booked for the Holiday Inn Resort for only $40 a night ! Got long stay prices . The place looks incredible .
Still not sure how i will fly there though . It's almost double the price from Hong Kong . A travel agent said the reason for that was because it is an internation flight from Hong Kong !

I took China Southern (a 757).
I just checked a Chinese travel site (www.yoee.com). For example CAN-SYX on Aug 27 on CZ was 480RMB ($60US) (at 40% discount). From Shenzhen SZX-SYX on HU, CZ, ZH (Shenzhen Airlines), the fare was 530RMB (less than $70US). These were one-way prices and I believe these probably would only be available inside the mainland (i.e. not in HK).

The new Guangzhou (CAN) Airport should be very impressive as well.

This is where I stayed. Right on the beach. It probably pays to stay in a room with "OceanView". Sheraton is on the other end of the beach and its a little more expensive as well.
Have a good time!

I may just do that ! It looks like it is just $10 more per night .

Thanks for this web-site !
Stupid question :
Can I purchase tickets from this web-site from the US or will I need to be in China to get these prices ?
I just called the web site but it was like 1:30am there . Got someone who really couldn't speak English too well .

Their customer service page says you can. but read the fine print (eg foreign credit card surcharges, fees, not responsible for changes, etc) before you buy on-line, which I personally would NOT recommend. I only use the site to check the price then buy the tickets when I am local. Ususally there should be no shortage of discounted tickets. People there typically buy their tickets only days before their trip anyways.

Unless you really want to see Shenzhen/Guangdong (and I can't imagine why you would!), I wouldn't bother trying to save a few bucks by taking a flight from SZX/CAN. HKG is 25mins from HK on the Airport Express train (less if you're staying on Kowloon). What with additional border checks between HKG and the mainland and slower transport, I reckon your entire journey time from HK to Sanya would probably be doubled!
Heard good things about the Holiday Inn, but also hear the Sheraton is heaps better.

I would love to fly out of HKG airport . However , at this time , it appears it will cost almost double , since flights out of HK are considered InterNational Flights . Being that you live in HK , I get the feeling you make Mage Bucks $$$ . I , unfortuantely don't . So I must try to balance economics with convience . Thanks to you Folks with your feed back , I will be able to do that ! However , if I can find a reasonable price on a ticket out of HKG . Even , if it costs more but not too much more than the flights from mainland China , I will jump on it !

23 minutes ! I took that train in Jan.. It's awesome , looks kinda like the inside of a Jet Aircraft .

Agreed !
I am curious to see more of China , though ! It shouldn't be too bad . As long as I'm not too Jet Lagged !

This is the big decision I must make ! When & where I should buy the tickets !
Thanks for this great web-site ! I called and found out it's too early to book the tickets ! And I upgraded my Hotel room to an " Ocean View " . Just $10 more .
