(no im not a Airbus or Boeing Fan)
I find, and so do my friends, find that Boeing seems to "brag" alot about their aircraft and airbus play around with their words in their adverts.

Ok for example (this is real by the way)
a boeing advert said that 3/4 people rather fly the 777 aircraft that any other competing jetliner. BUT these questionaires were only taken on the 777 itself not on another competing aircraft like the A340.
Isn't this a bit of a "cheat" for advertising?
Also in the same advert, it said that Range and Comfort was their priority, where as airbus mentioned safety as one of their priority's.
As we can see in that real example above, it seems like Boeing is bragging a bit, dont you think?

Airbus does not seem to brag, but they use some clever words.
One of the adverts showed the A340 in flight at dusk. At the back of the plane in quotes "Stop snoring!" and at the front of the plane "Sorry!!"
this is trying to convey the message that the A340 is the quiestest wide bodied jet in the world. And int he same advert. "there is no dreaded middle seat in any class. A fact that disturbs our competitors, not our passengers."

Any one have anything to say? Anything is welcome!

im a neutral supporter but personaly prefer airbus aircraft.

These are normal advertisment tricks. Quiet funny. I don't know if it is worth to make this advertisments because it is the airlines who buy the aircrafts and not the passengers.

Heya ZRH

Well i dont think they are really advertising to the airlines in magazines. I think they are trying to "win" the popularity and make people "think" that "their" plane is better than anyone elses.

I just think that Boeing are tricking people in way like i said earlier about 3/4 passengers prefer to fly the 777, which is not really true.

Also another article in another forum. How can boeing say soo soon that the B777 is 16-17% economical than the A340-500/600 when it has not even been built

I hope you understand what i mean by "Bragging"

Hey Airbus_340
I agree with you it is bragging, but it is not very important because most passengers chose the airline, the fastest route or anything else but not the aircraft. Most people don't even know to distinguish between the different airliners. Yesterday I had a funny experience. I was on the roof of a parking house of ZRH and looked at the aircrafts. Some people near me discussed about what they see. Sombody explained to the others: "Look over there it is an A 330 because is has winglets." In fact is was an A 321! I only loughed quietly.

Trevor, What is wrong with Boeing saying that their new 777 is 16-17% more economical than the A340NG?? After all, Airbus too, can make claims that the A3XX is 15-20% more economical than the 747-400, and that plane hasn't been built yet either. Not only that, since a version of the 777 already exists, it is easier to predict performance on it than it is on a totally new aircraft such as the A3XX.

It's pretty normal, and Airbus does similar things, like claiming the A330/A340 outsells the 777, while ignoring the fact that the 777 only competes against some specific models, and the 767 also competes with a/c in this series.

But you can't blame either company for talking up their own products, after all if they don't, who will?

i ike this topic myself!

heya Sammyk
well the A3XX will be a be bigger than the 747 for sure and they are building this plane for it to be more economical on long range high pay load routes, they predicted that.
Boeing anouncing that the 777 is more economical thant the A340-500/600 cannot be proven really yet.
But about the A3XX and the 747, because the plane is simply designed bigger for a specific reason not in DIRECT competition to the 747. It is a Super Jumbo not a Jumbo. =)

Im just saying 777x that just to ME that boeing is braging more than airbus, it may not seem to be to anyone else but it is just to me.

To all: If one looks at all of the statements made by the respective manufacturers, the proverbial "grain of salt" has to be taken. Given the intense rivalry between the two, neither has been shy about employing journalistic manipulations in their adverts,
statistics, announcements, ect

Look at the PR hype involving "passenger preferences", "undisclosed customers" and "market share"...

Best to disregard anything except statements which can be verified !
