NWA it seems wanted this strike to force the issue of "the union problem". C'mon, can you imagine having to train you're replacement for 18 months?

First you bargain out all the concessions you can from the unions and then you bankrupt the airline anyway.The mechanix are just saving what they have.......... It doesn't hurt to encourage a little class warfare among the unions either to stir the pot a little more. "Those guys make HOW MUCH?"

Saw it with United and other legacys will follow. Corporations are like lemmings.....

Then on Anet you have teenagers commenting on the subject...please.

Every job, I've ever had I have trained my replacement. Additionally, the person I replaced has trained me. I don't see any problem with this.

Yeah, unions are famous for this. Why don't you ask the high union executives how much they make? Chances are, the union bosses do a lot LESS work for the money, benifits, and perks they make, than the executives who work for NW (or any other corporation) do.

But, somehow, the union bosses always exempt themselves when they bring up the "haves" vs. the "have nots" argument.

No one forced anyone to work for UA, NW, AA, or others.... Here is the bottom line, all any employer owes to it's employees is a pay check for the work they perform. Nothing more, nothing less. The level that pay check is at is based on what the employer and employee (or his/her union) agree upon, vs. the level of work accomplished.

Those employers that pay more (including any benifit package) than other employers pay, for the same work, do so because it is in their best interest to treat there employees better than the next company. That is a choice the company makes. The employee's choice is to leave his company to work for the company that pays higher and has better benifits.

But, always remember this, "the grass is not always greener on the other side".

Ummm.... NW spent 18 months training replacements. Each replacement didn't receive 18 months of training. Many companies take stock of things and invest in training people to temporarily fill jobs. It's a standard, and good, business practice.

If there is class warfare going on amongst NW's unions, and I don't think there is, then that says very little about the caliber of of the unions' leadership and members.
