Could B6 JFK-SFB Work?

With up to twelve [12] daily JFK-MCO's and soon five [5] daily EWR-MCO's, B6 obviously does very well in this market sending 2652 seats a day from JFK/EWR-MCO alone.

Is there enough of a market for B6 to send a few 190's to SFB to extend its reach into the NYC-MCO market? Would it cannabalize or compliment the MCO service?

Im all for the theory of doing what you do best and sticking with it and it seems like B6 does MCO very well so why not dominate the market with service to SFB as well?

I believe it would compliment the MCO service well, provided they drop a flight or two to MCO, and fly even the A320 2-3x daily to SFB. That would serve the northern Orlando suburbs such as Lake Mary, Heathrow and Sanford well, offering a more convenient shorter ride, with non-stop service to NYC on a well-known airline. If B6 was to enter SFB, watch for some legacy carrier (read: DL) to all the sudden jump into the "niche" market at SFB, diluting the yields with their 767s.

I really don't think so. Orlando doesn't really much traffic other than arriving and departing tourists. SFB is too far away from all the resorts and theme parks to make it appealing to most of the domestic traveling public. Add into the fact that B6 just built a brand new hangar to support LiveTV and line MX, along with the flight ops building which apparently also houses the overnight crews. It just doesn't make sense to split the operation. Gate space might be at a premium for them in MCO with all of these flights, so I wouldn't doubt if they don't try and relocate their operation to another concourse.

im not talking about splitting the operation at all .. im talking about maintaining MCO as what it is, but complimenting the service with flights to SFB when the 190s come. Kind of like what we do with FLL .. we began service to LGA. I know that the FLL story is much different, but Im just saying it could be done. Look at the success that Allegiant is having. Obviously there is some sort of market at SFB.

I didn't even think of Allegiant. Have they published any numbers on how this mini-hub is doing for them? To be perfectly honest though, I think B6 would probably be better off servicing CLT, and soon before the HP/US combo happens. It is a very very lucrative market and they can offer more frequency with the E-190. LGA, EWR, and JFK have worked out so well for B6 though because it has such a huge traveler base to draw from. MCO really only has the tourist crowd and is only about five miles away from Disney. The two main groups of travelers are your Disney/Universal groups, which btw Disney now runs their own busses from MCO to take people to the Disney hotels, and your cruise ship people. I believe that B6 could make it work, yes, but I think they could make better use of their A/C doing new markets.

They could have like 2/3X E-190 flights to JFK, see how it goes, then build on it if it is good adding more flights, or add an A320 on the route along with an E-190 or 2. I am sure they can make it work though.

But I don't see Delta sending a 763 but I get what you mean.

This could definitely work with the EMB-190s. Getting from MCO to parts of Orlando like Altamonte Springs, or Sanford itself, either means using the ever-congested I-4, or the Toll-417, which can easily cost you $5. I'd bet there are more than enough people in said parts that'd appreciate being able to avoid those hassles, not to mention the hassles at MCO itself. Plus JB could also attract interest from the community of Deltona, and perhaps even Daytona Beach, without actually having to serve that airport.

I could definitely see 2 to 3 times daily service from SFB to JFK working out, it would serve Deltona(huge population of New Yorkers), Deland, Altamonte, Sanford, Lake Mary and even Daytona Beach.The Orlando area is not just about tourists anymore, it is a a prety big city and it's increasing in size. Im sure SFB would be a bigger sucess(than it already is) it it had airline service that was reliable (to domestic destiantions) Im mostly talking about Pan Am and TMA. Either your flight leaves 2 days late, or be it is dosen't leave at all - at least to this day until the month of Nov. Pan Am has cancelled all of it's flights. They plan on starting flgiths back up around the holidays.
