Will United Airlines launch service once again to India? Several years ago they had planned nonstop ORD-DEL service but it was canceled. Now AA will begin service on the same route Nov 15th. I was disappointed to hear that because as excited as I am about all of these nonstops to India (CO from EWR, etc.) , I was hoping UA would once again have a chance. Any rumors?

Im not sure if UAL has aircraft with the legs right now but SFO-India would be successful IMO, connecting Silicon Valley with India's tech work force in places like Bangalore.

Quoting Ordpark (Reply 1):
places like Bangladore

Not to nitpick, but it's Bangalore.

I would think ORD-DEL is more likely, and has been considered in the past. That said, STT757 makes a good point about SFO-DEL. With AI starting it up (so I gather on a-net) it might make for interesting competition!

Hopefully N196UA will get back on her wheels, and then who knows....Seriously, I'm not sure that UA has the aircraft now for it, so it might be after Ch. 11 on this one, folks.

I think UA has lost the momentum on India. It remains to be seen if it's a good thing or a bad thing though  Smile

They have the history of flying to India, and have announced the non-stop flight in the past. But now they've let AA/CO get away with the first non-stops, which means that if UA enters they'll have to fight against well-entrenched American carriers like AA/CO/NW/DL
