Hi,

does anybody know whether LH will have the same configuration(s) on their 7 new A346 as on the ones which are already in service or whether they will have a three class configuration. I don't know whether those are planned to be more an expansion of the fleet or partially a replacement for the oldest 744s or A343s. Any kind of info/thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks
Markus

As far as I know, they ordered the new A346 in a three class layout. Actually those 10 A346 in LHs fleet, were originally also ordered in a three class layout, however, they changed it in the very last minute into a two class version, therefore creating the (at least for f/a's and pax) annoying situation at the doors area 3 - with a galley position and the stairs for the lower deck facilities.

I also heard that they will actually reconfigure some of our 34V (343 with new business class without first class) into a 34P (first, new buiz, eco) due to rising demand of first class bookings...

regards,
sano

well, that sounds rather logical to me.... about two or three years ago they announced that they would remove first class service from a number of routes, esp in North America - e.g. Boston, Atlanta, Philadelphia, all of which have in the meantime returned to three class service (except of course for flights ex MUC).... so my thinking was that they would order the new aircraft with first class but I haven't heard anything about it so far. Thanks for the info on that.

regards
M

Will the 7 new A346s be the higher gross weight version or are they due for delivery before the HGW is available? Anyone knows?

What does the two-class config have to do with the lower deck lavs? And I don't think the stairs could have been introduced at the last minutes, it's too complex.

When Qatar ordered their two (four?) A346s it was announced that they'd be the first to receive the HGW.

Couldn't find that annoying sorry... Why is that annoying? I found it rather good to have the galley near my seat so i could get a sandwich and or beverage any minute. So that was great.. And toilets downstairs is very good why not?

It was my understanding that the reason why the lavs and galleys were located below decks is because LH already has a dedicated fleet of freighters, and simply didn't need all that cargo capacity. the resulting additional seats has made the A346 more economical. Just my understanding, mind you. I could be wrong.

It's been swell, but the swelling has gone down.

actually having the toilets below doesn't add that much more in seating as the stairs take up a fair amount of space but it stops the congestion around the lavs.

There have been rumours that LH is looking into upgrading their First class seats. Frank (Leskova) had mentioned something on these lines sometime ago. I wonder whether they will do this upgrade in time to put it into the new planes, instead of putting the old seats and then changing them not that long afterwards.

Frank, any more info on this?

Tony

LH will introduce a new First Class with the arrival of the A380. a new Eco product is supposed to be unveiled then as well. i doubt any new features on the new A346s.
