UA 881 Smoke In Cockpit - Diversion To DTW

Looks like a 757-200 based on flightview.com . I haven't seen anything about it here yet; any idea what happened?

It's a big building with patients, but that's not important right now.

This is the second 757 emergency with smoke in one week...uh oh, could this be a pattern? Blame the scab mechanics at NWA for this one, but wait, this is for another airline...obviously incidents happen at other airlines, everything at NWA is blown out of propotion.

Does UA have union mechanics?

Shouldn't smoke in the cabin be something that doesn't happen if maintenance is being done properly?

UA881. It is a 757 on the BOS-ORD leg and a 744 on the ORD-NRT leg.
The diversion was actually on Wednesday, not Thursday as the paper indicated.

NW881 is an A320 from TPA-MEM-LAX.
