Just read the following at:

http://www.historyofpia.com/forums/v...d=28a067f388ca4ee3265460a8813e13d5

seems as though the new CEO wants to make better use of the tail and replace that lifeless looking flag.

Thank God. They had such a nice interim traditional-patterned tail that would have looked better than this Windows '92 icon logo.

Well the new livery can not be any more bland than this one, that's for sure! I just hope they don't borrow too much from the NAF old one.

Firstly, the link doesn't work. Well, at least not here.

Secondly, this is only posted by someone on a forum. There is no 'proper' source on this one.

To be honest, I quite like that livery.

I hated it at first, the beige bit just looks dirty, but its grown on me now.

Its better than the really rubbish old one with the green tail that just had PIA in the middle!

THANK GOODNESS

Their old scheme was way better, the green belly looked stunning.

How can anybody mistake your brand when you have a green tail and the PIA letters on. I miss those days. Now, you have to look at a small flag that you can barely see from a few meters/feet away.

Anything is better than the current one. It is another underwelming livery (like the new USAirways one). I think those folks at airline HQs should look at modified airliners' database for inspiration.

Best,

quite plausible, they might want to have a better livery on their new B772LRs. After all they are the launch customers, and even Boeing would want them to have something better.

Its a very bad and cheap knock-off of El Al's color scheme. There is no real "excitement" to the livery with a white/brown fuselage and flag.

They should take a page out of SriLankan's book ... tho the bird looks like it's hardly able to stay airborne.

And they should definitely fatten up the PIA letters if they retain them where they are now. Anything on that tail is an improvement from now. The planes look like they're in a wet lease or something.

The old PIA colors and the bold "PIA" on that tail were stunning, all they needed to do to it was modify it and update it a little and it would have looked even better, not a radical overhaul as they did.
Hopefully if they do decide to revise the scheme it will be a bit more colorful.

Good effort GARPD. The tail design doesn't work for me though. Not enough dark green going on; looks more like brown to me.

Exactly. They should go back to that nicer green first of all and get rid of that sand color too, please.

Looks like a flag of a pirate ship one sees in the movies.. that's how ugly that design is (besides not even been the same green as the real Pakistani flag)

Quoting Planemannyc (Reply 6):

From a design standpoint, it's pretty much impossible to design an uglier look than this.

El Als livery is also a downgrade from their previous corporate look but at least the tail looks proper. No doubt whoever 'designed' this copied it and had the brilliant idea of adding that boring sand color Saudia Arabian uses.

Quoting LH455 (Reply 12):

Exactly, that desinflated peacock on drugs that looks like a kid's ballon toy is another horrible design. Stupid livery that replaced yet another very classy, well-designed corporate image just because some marketing guru nerd thought "maybe it isn't modern enough".

GARPDs tail design is an improvement as is this one which flows well and almost saves this ugly design, but again, that's impossible.

http://www.cardatabase.net/modifieda...earch/photo_search.php?id=00001442

LEsson of the day is? Spend a few $ on a corporate image that will look good so that people wont get tired of ir in 2 years. ALso this new crop of marketing guru nerds should be required to at least get a minor in arts.

Excellent design, GARPD.

The new designs are supposed to represent the 4 provinces of Pakistan... any ideas of what images they may be? Could this end up like the BA world tails "fiasco"?

(I put the ""s because I actually loved the world tails! Silly)

If a Pakistani reads this, he will "fry" you. Pakistan has officially and de facto (as a matter of state effectiveness in accordance with international law) five provinces:

- Baluchistan
- Punjab
- Sindh
- NWFP (North-West Frontier Province)
- Kashmir

The size of the underlined is argued by representatives of two countries (both sides claim the full territory), though one part is is under full Pakistani administration and hence belongs to Pakistan. (I tried to formulate this as neutral as I can, as I am not part of this conflict and take distance and condemn the fight)

Well I must be in a minority because I think the current PIA livery is excellent. Though it is simple it is easily identifable.

Obvisously you are  Wink

The fuselage is fine. I like the large PIA titles and the sweeping green boarder between the white and cream.

The only thing that lets it all down is the tail and the pathetic badly stylised flag.

So uninspired and so dull.

The fuselage isn't that great either, and says nothing about the country but could have been worse.

Pakistan has always had 4 provinces only. Azad Kashmir has been given the status of a State according to the UN resolution. It has its own government and prime minister umbrellaed by the Federal government. A citizen of Azad Kashmir can not vote in the Pakistan general elections.
