1. PIA is reportedly starting GLA flights from late Oct with A 310-300s according to a report on GEO TV's website in UK. GEO TV is Pakistan's 2nd most watched TV channel and is the largest privately owned channel.
2. PIAs B 772ERs have hotten increased take off weight capabilities and certification has been approved thus paving the way for nonstop JFK, ORD and YYZ flights from KHI/LHE/ISB to begin from this December.
3. PIAs 2 B 772LRs are thus far slated for nonstops to IAH and LAX only. The latter destination is expected to begin from the start of 2006. Yes KHI-LAX nonstop with the B 772LR.
4. PIA has asked for tenders to dry lease them an extra B 772ER with GE Engines from 2006 onwards.
Any further news will be posted later on as it happens.

So no more MAN stop for the IAH flight? I guess they never will get 5th freedom on that route

Hmmm....It would be about time if they do start. Surely October is too close though? Any reports of destination and if the flights are direct or not?

Wasn't there a regulation prohibiting nonstops from PAK to US? And what about NBO? And I am curious to know whether the ethnic Glasgow demand is sufficient to make the route profitable??

Probably yes, as there are no non-stop options at present. They would be up against Emirates but that isn't non-stop.
Good to see PIA continuing to develop services to the whole of the UK (like Emirates). Time to point out to the myriad of Indian carriers that life actually exists outside of west London then we can have really good connections to most of the sub-continent from the northern part of the UK!

AI does fly to BHX, which is definitely not in LON!

Quoting Candid76 (Reply 9): No, but it isn't far away - and I believe it is only to one of the smaller destinations in India, not DEL or BOM.
I think as the new Indian international carriers, Jet, Sahara, etc expand then the likelihood of one of these or AI serving MAN is very likely. Jet in particular have always marketed heavily in the UK before they became an international carrier - wouldn't surprise me at all to see them in MAN one day....

Quoting Candid76 (Reply 9): There is still a gaping hole in the market from MAN, and maybe Scotland. At least PIA seem intent on serving the UK properly.
Yeh, I get what your saying
Actually they serve Toronto-Birmingham-Amirsitar-Delhi
NBO and URUMQI in China will start 100% confirmed from this Oct with A 310s...KHI-DXB-NBO twice a week A 310s and once a week ISB-Urumqi A 310...PIA has 5th freedom rights on DXB-NBO-DXB route.
Quoting B742 (Reply 4): Any news on BHX flights, will they ever use the 772 there?
No need as the 5 weekly nonstop A 310s from ISB are more than enought to cover the BHX market.
Quoting B742 (Reply 4): Is there enough demand for these non-stop flights from Pakistan?
Yes there is demand from YYZ and JFK especially for these nonstop flights to PAK.
Mr Kirmani CEO of PIA today in Nairobi said PIA would start non-stop flights from Karachi to New York in January next year after delivery of long-haul Boeing 777s. Later direct flights would be operated on Karachi-Toronto, Karachi-Houston and Karachi-Chicago routes, he added.
He said by December 2005, PIA would start flights to Athens and the Spanish city of Barcelona, besides two additional weekly flights to Japan.
Answering a question, he said the national airline had to acquire new and leased aircraft to meet the increasing demand of passenger traffic both on domestic and international routes.
Mr Kirmani said daily flights between Karachi and Islamabad, including the night coach, were being increased to five.

PIA's online booking facility NEVER seems to work - at least not for flights from MAN. I have tried numerous times, too. Most frustrating, especially as I'd like to fly one of its 742 machines to JFK.
