I did some quick researching (Google) and it seems that the A340-300 G-VSKY is still flying, now for BWIA as 9Y-JIL.

As far as I am aware, only 3 A340's have been written off. Those are 2 Air France examples which suffered extensive fire damage and a Sri Lankan example destroyed by the Tamal Tigers.

Yup, I got the same info from airfleets.net, but one thing I found odd was that on the link from airdisaster, it says the accident happened in 1988, yet the 340's if I'm not mistaken began operating in the early 1990's, so when did this accident actually take place?

There was also the House color a/c that crashed during testing. I am rather certain that this too was an A340.

Yes, it was an A320. I've seen the video where it was flying very low and slow (I think it just took off) and flew into some trees at the end of a runway and then you see some smoke come up. Does anyone know the details of that crash? Why? Fatalities?

I cannot remember if it was an A330 or A330, but I am NOT talking about the A320 crash that exploded upon impact with the trees. This was more a stall I believe on take off with a higher impact crash.

It was an A330 in June of 1994. All 7 occupants unfortunately lost their lives in this crash.

A330 c/n 0042 F-WWKH w/o Toulouse 30.06.94

The A340 of Virgin suffered an undercarriage malfunction on approact to LHR.

A piece of airspace was cleared to the west of Heathrow and the aircraft was cleared to perform manoeuvres to bring the undercarriage down.

After these failed the aircraft made a textbook landing which , though it damaged the aircraft, restricted the damage and the aircraft was repaired.

The tabloid press made much of the aircraft's "aerobatics" - as viewed by witnesses on the ground - and the fact that the F.O. was the current UK aerobatic champion.

As has been stated, it was an A330. The A320 referred to was an AF plane.

This accident happened June 26, 1988 near Basle/Mulhouse.
A/c should perform a few flyovers at the nearby airport of Habsheim where was an Airshow.

I'm curious what kind of manoeuvres these are. Pulling high Gs (like fast turns) to deploy the gear by G-forces?

As stated, the link provided has very wrong information - the accident occured in 1997, not 1988.

Did anyone else notice five pop-up ads from that original link? Good Lord, there's a site never to visit again!!

Right.

Jan.20th 1994. Air France A340-200 F-GNIA. Destroyed by fire on the ground at CDG during maintenance.

July 24th 2001. Sri Lankan A340-300 4R-ADD. Destroyed in a terrorist attack on Colombo Airport.

Aug.2nd 2005. Air France A340-300 F-GLZQ. Crash landed at YYZ.

 no  No it was not.

It was an A330-300, F-WWKH. The plane crashed on June 3th 1994 during a test flight in which the crew was simulating an engine failure on take off. Pilot error.
The aircraft was not in "house color" but was due to be delivered to Thaï Airways.

Quite an interesting read!
It also contains a term worthy of a Roger Bacon "yuckspeak" definition:

What I found somewhat alarming from that read is that it was another situation of the A340's emergency slides and doors operating "incorrectly" for want of a better term.
