hey sports fans!
My buddies and I work for gulfstream in savannah, ga and our office is located in the former SAV airport terminal. in fact my office over looks the tarmac and we get the daily show of airplanes going by to the FBO and other military planes show up for a refueling stop. intrestingly, 12 Navy and Marine Bell Helicopters landed there for a stop. we ran the tail numbers and the squardon was based outside of pensacola, fl (obviously they were out running the storm for the day). ANYWAYS, Gulfstream occupies half of the building and a telemarketing firm occupies the other side. I was walking around and once i leave the Gulfstream side, i end up in the old terminal. It is clear that this facility hasnt been used as an airport for quite sometime. I understand that the new airport was built when the olympics came to town.
My question is, does anyone have any pictures of the airport when it was used as such. Any pics will be great, interior and exterior pics are fine. Links to any websites are fine. I am facinated by this building and the fact that it is a former airport. I look down an abandoned hall and see all the classic symptoms of an airport, such as gate signs and what not. I have even found half buried DL sand bags in the parking lot! Not too offiend anyone, but this airport is of about the same quality and vintage of the concourses at Norfolk airport (ORF)
