Well, if you think about it, NZ placed the order on Aug 25, 2004. Just a year ago. So if you want really really fast delivery, wouldn't it be prudent to keep the color scheme simple and reduce time in the paint shop ?!!

Thanks for the photos ... NZ could have a bit more color on the aircraft, even if just the engine housings, and the winglets on the 744 ... and why did they stop naming their aircraft? but love the KORU ... kia ora ANZ!

I think that a plane as big as a T7 looks not very good if almost entirely white...
Although I don't mind air new zealand's livery I find that it could be time to update it....
As on cars the color can change it at least with the same importance of the design... I think that painting an airplane with a colorful livery can surely be more expensive but can also be good for advertising...
IMO it would be fantastic to see an All Black plane such as Team New Zealand....

If you mean the c/s on the Boeing, it is not what I would call a lively c/s.
If you mean the 777 is boring, how can any aircraft with engines that big be boring?!
USAF336TFS: I'm confused too... Anyway, it's a gorgeous aircraft. Congratulations to Air New Zealand and Boeing!
Planesailing: The AirNZ livery certainly looks better on the 744 than the 777. I like the slashes, but it definately needs some more "kick" to it. The GE90's are mo
Zeekiel: All this "boring fuselage" and "uninteresting liveries". At least most of you think it looks beautiful. Can any non New Zealander suggest what we can
ZKSUJ: It looks nice, simple and elegant. Don't get the boring thing as all the NZ planes have the same scheme, if it's too white then what would you call th

Planesailing: They are bigger, more powerful and more imposing than the RR Trents.
YULWinterSkies: Not impressed! A 777 does deserve a more original livery. Thanks for the info anyway!
Ozair: Looks great, are any of the subsequent going to have a Star scheme? How long till we see it crossing the tasman on it's proving flights?
Aerokiwi: How about a stylised silver fern in the place of the weak and boring "Pacific Wave". I have to say, it does look rather drab. I wish they'd got GEs fo

Planesailing: Before the airlines name, mid fuselage could work.
Socal: Go Air New Zealand........!!!!!!!!!!! Nice 772ER
ACJAZZAME: Looks Great, where do we expect them to fly to?
TG990: I think the livery is fine. It really symbolizes New Zealand and the culture here. We are simple people who live life to the full. If you stop compari
DfwRevolution: That's the top of my favorite 777 colors, hands down. It's gonna look awesome at sunrise... Can't wait to see it on the 787
9V-SVC: Beautiful ,I have this good feeling she would look even better with GE 90 engines ! Hopefully we get to see 772LR and 773ER in Air NZ colours.
Dalavia: The Air New Zealand livery does look somewhat bland on such a large aircraft. I think that all they need to do is paint the engines to match the tail.
MarBergi: I thought that too, they just look too small compared to the GE's. As for the livery I must say it is a bit boring, maybe an off white would have bee
Cactus739: How many of these are they getting? If I remember right...its a small number, no?
NZ1: 8 to start with. We haven't. All the 744's are named after cities/towns, as will the 777's also, eventually. Thanks for all the comments. I myself th
DeltaGuy767: I'm confused AC didn't order 777's No just kidding anyway nice brid, but the paint job could be a bit more lively. From BDL, DeltaGuy767

NZ107: Stunning. Never seen a cleaner Air NZ plane
Zkojh: the last 3 pics look brill, really make it come alive, worth the money spent on it, and can't wait to see her in Nov, when i'm in AKL, and NZ1's pics
LHRsunriser: OoO Well nice. Can't wait for that to come in LHR now lol
QantasHeavy: Not trying to be A v B here, but there is always so much excitement when a company gets new 777s. I flew on the first revenue flt into ATL (from MCO)
VirginFlyer: This is a major fleet purchase for Air NZ - the excitement would have been the same regardless of whether it was a 777 or an A340. V/F
SunriseValley: How many hours of flight time and what sort of flight testing is done before the aircraft is turned over to the new owner ?
Planesailing: I was only going by the Boeing website, which puts the Trents at 90,000lbs and the GE's at 94,000lbs.

OHLHD: It were the pics. The 3 other look really stunning!
Aerokiwi: Yes the pics under bright lights do look a lot more impressive. But I have still always thought of the Pacific Wave as a bit of a sappy wuss addition
Aerohottie: A little off topic here, but.... How are the "new" Business class seat supposed to fit into the 787 with a slimmer fuselage than both the 747 and 777
BOEING787: One of the most beautiful and `soothing to the eye' liveries around around. Beautiful pics by the way !!

NZ107: Just one question, did NZ purposely leave off the the RR logo on the side of the engines?
777ER: I think it would be the airlines choice if they have the engine logo on it, sme airlines would have it and others wont
Andrewtang: As far as I know, the A330s in our fleet don't have the Rolls-Royce logo when still in the factory/testing. But they will be there before delivery ta
NZ1: I believe it is a pre service mod to fit these when the aircraft arrives in AKL. NZ1
N754PR: The new scheme is so boring, what a shame they did not keep the old one, think how that would have looked.
NZ1: What a useless and uninformative post. You haven't really added anything to the thread have you???? This has been written so many times, why did you
Aerokiwi: My understanding was that with the withdrawl of the leased 772s, the remainder of the 772 fleet would then be removed as well, hence, the end of the

777ER: Yes as NZ have only ordered the 200ER so far
Zeekiel: Same old. Although I wouldn't mind NZ bringing out one of their 772ER in their old school livery just for the sake of it. Yes Cheers Zeekiel
NZ1: Update: ZK-OKA now due for delivery on October 1st. May change yet though. NZ1
NZ1: Not yet. Probably won't have a firm ETA until 1 week prior. NZ1
SunriseValley: Will -OKA and -OKB be delayed because of the Machinist strike?
NZ1: We haven't heard of a delay yet, only that OKA has slipped 1 day. NZ1
ZK-NBT: Maintanence on the 772 engines is being outsourced anyway, so when an engine change is required they will ship a new one in from somewhere, i'd say S
NZ1: HAESL in Hong Kong. We have 3 spares in AKL, and will just ship the removed engine oversea for maintenance. NZ1
ZK-NBT: Cheers NZ1 again! So is there anymore info you can give on the long term plan for the 772ER's in the NZ fleet? I for one don't see them getting rid o
777ER: The 4x leased B772s could get replaced by the B787-10, if Boeing decide to go ahead with it. So that is not really a down grade. Wern't the 2x B787s g
ZKSUJ: Is it true that the 747 Advanced MAY be an option for NZ in the future for high capacity routes? I heard Ralph Norris said that.
NZ1: Yes its true. I can't elaborate any further than that so don't ask. Eventually all 8 will be replaced, but it won't be for a while. When the 744's ar
Gasman: Given the high loadings between here and the USA recently, the 747 Adv would be a no-brainer for ANZ I would've thought.
777ER: So LAX-LHR has a chance of remaining B747 operated. Why down grade to B772 when you can upgrade to B747ADV
Zkojh: i dout there are any plans to swap planes on the LHR route, nothing kinda meets the 747 at the moment, as the A380 is not on the list, loved to see th
A340600: No, I just hadn't seen it in different light. I swallow my words, from those new pictures it looks gorgous! Sam
Springbok747: Wow...looks nice! Congrats NZ! Thanks for sharing NZ1.
ZK-NBT: Sounds promising! Seems like NZ will be an SQ in the future for a while atleast, seems they will replace the 772's within 10 years, by then most of th
