I saw a picture of what appears to be a C5 at Dobbins Air Force Base outside of Atlanta. They were loading passengers in these military planes. This leads to a couple of questions:
First, are these flights subject to FAA rules. In other words, do they have to give a safety demonstration?
Secondly, how many seats are in one of these huge planes?
Our hearts and prayers go out to the people affected by this tragedy.

The C5 has an upper deck with passenger seats. The cap is 73. The lower deck can be converted to pax config with 267 seats bolted to the floor.

I guess this would not apply in this case, but El Al one evacuated Ethiopean Jews to Israel in a 747-200F and they had over 1000 people on that flight. Rules sometimes do not apply in emergency situations.
