Thanks for posting the details NZ1. I wonder why the idea of doing the delivery flight non-stop was dropped?

Interesting to see the Christchurch-Ohakea segment is scheduled to take 2 hours - presumably the Wellingtonians are in for a fly past or two...

Would the WLG fly past be over the airport runway or like what the NZ B744 did on the New Zealand release of the final LoTR, do a low fly over the CBD?

Yes I'd like to know the answer to this one too. The non stop flight is easily within the aircraft's capabilities, the stopover will cost the airline money and it's not as though NAN is important from a marketing perspective or anything.

In fact can't you just see the media reports along the lines of "the new 777 had to make a refuelling stop in Nadi during the long flight from Seattle"

Don't expect any tickets will be for sale because its always been VIPs, staff, media etc.

Hi all

NZ1 - The current timetable still has the 772 flying between SYD/AKL NZ 102 21/10 and AKL/SYD NZ 105 24/10. With the announced delays, do you think that the 772 will still be flying these sectors? I hope so as I have booked these flights being that they would hopefully operated by this new and exciting aircraft type.

By the way NZ1, always enjoy the inside look of ANZ that you provide. Have been an ANZ for a long time (more years than I would probably admit to).

As far as I can tell/see, there is no reason why these flights shouldn't go ahead. First flight (pax carrying) is still set down for October 10th.

Thanks for the kind words.

Honestly I think all New Zealand members have good respect for NZ1. NZ1 is upfront, honest and truthful, its obvious by all the a.net members who have NZ1 on their respected users list (including me), including members from Australia, Europe will agree with me.

Agreed, thanks NZ1.

One question, will they do a PMR flyover? Or do I have to go to Ohakea !!!

I would make a guess that the Chairman acting CEO and some other top management and Board members will join the delivery flight at that point and be part of the big press hoopla upon arrival at AKL.
I feel a little nostalgia; I was part of the invited guests that greeted the arrival of the first DC8 at AKL back in about 1963, I believe it was. A couple of us wandered around the aircraft after the crowd moved away ; there was a hatch door open and sitting in the compartment was a spare wheel with tire mounted!
That seemed to be quite quite an anachronism.

I guess you're absolutely right SunriseValley.

Tell us more about how you came to invited to greet the first DC-8! I loved those old 8's, especially in the old southern cross livery. I flew on them often in the early 70's "pre-DC-10" days.

You may have to make the drive to Ohakea I think mate. Thanks for all the praise, but I am just doing my bit for the community, and sharing what I can.

The company I worked for at the time represented Douglas in N.Z.
I remember everyone was looking skyward trying to see the aircraft , the hanger screened the view to the NW and that's the direction that Doug Keesing brought it in from , very low and quite fast, when over the field he did a sharp climbing right turn into the downwind leg before landing from the west.

What seats on the B772, in your oppion would be a good seat in economy, that has excellent window views, of like the engine and wings etc?
