Hi Guys,
I managed to get the first shot of Air Canada Jazz's Fin 710 in the Star Alliance colour scheme accepted last night. Yes, the rumour has been (finally!) confirmed.
My question is this: why would a Jazz plane be painted into Star Alliance colours even when not a part of the mainline fleet? Do other RJ's in the Star network also get painted into this livery?

Well, the airline is called AIR CANADA JAZZ, so most people regard it as a part of AC, which it rightfully is - so I think it is appropriate to include it in Star colours and titles.
LH Cityline also has a CRJ701 in Star painting, as LHC is more than just a regional affiliate of LH - it is a part of LH.
Has anyone here flown the Jazz - 705s? I'm dying to see more pictures and read trip reports...

They now have an Emb-170 that belongs to Republic Airlines.

For some reason, I thought that with their IPO, they would no longer be under the umbrella of ACE. However, after doing some research, this is simply not the case.

The jazz IPO has yet to take place, and ACE will still hold majority control after it does take place. The IPO is not being done to rid ACE of Jazz but rather to enhance the value of ACE. As with Aeroplan, Jazz will have a market value separate from all the other parts of ACE. Other units will likely be going this route in the future as well (Tech Ops, Cargo)

What is the timeline for that offering? This is a great way for ACE to gain some value. How many entities is AC expected to offer?

I haven't seen any confirmed dates as yet.
Quoting Cgagn (Reply 9): Sorry for the dumb question, but was is IPO? Is ACE the Air Canada Parent company?
IPO is Initial Public Offering (of shares). ACE will offer a certain percentage of shares to the public (less than 49%) and remain in control.
ACE is Air Canada Enterprises, which is the corporation created as Air Canada exited bankruptcy protection last year. It comprises all the parts of the old AC (Aeroplan, ACTS, Cargo, Ramp Operations, Jazz, Sales, Jetz, etc.)

Quoting Cruiser (Reply 11): Where are most of these CRJ-705's now being used
Some of the flying from YYZ includes Montreal, Ottawa, Quebec, Thunder Bay, and with the upcoming schedule change to Saskatoon, Regina, Halifax and St. John's; transborder there's Dallas, Houston, Newark, Philadelphia, as well as some Chicago, LaGuardia, Atlanta & Boston. From Montreal & Ottawa to Winnipeg; and from Calgary to Vancouver, Winnipeg, Regina & Houston. There could be more...I'm just going from memory....
With regard to the Star Alliance paint scheme, Jazz is *required* to maintain a specific number of aircraft in the Star Alliance colours, as are all Star members.

Quoting TIMEAIR (Reply 13): I imagine future U.S. Destinations will op with the type when ACJ takes delivery of the B773/B787 ..lol... But that may be wayyyyy down the line.....
Personally, I don't think that ACJ will ever get the 773 or the 787. Simply too large for a regional airline
The mainline on the other hand, of course they will. It is only a matter of time. I just hope we hear some more on this subject in the near future.

Anyone have any more details on this, such as how many aircraft are required to be in the scheme? I notice Singapore keep their own tail logo. Why is that?
