Hello everyone,

Just saw Il-62 in Russian Government colors going for landing at JFK. Does anyone know why did it come here: brought some government members or replacing scheduled Aeroflot B767 flight?..

As far as I am aware Il-62 is banned from US airspace for noise regulations.

Thanks for clearing this up and hope someone will go to take a picture of it for posting at A.net.

It's a VIP move. Saw it land 4R yesterday. The move your saw was probably it's return from parking at the base.

The IL-62 came in from Shannon Ireland and belongs to the Russian Govt.

Lots of VIP activity in the NYC area this week as there is a UN conference between Sep7th-9th.

Just saw the same looking Il-62 going for landing too.

So there are 2 (two) Il-62 airplanes right now at JFK airport!!!
