The Port of Seattle will unveil a multi-billion dollar plan for airport expansion and renovation at the Greater Seattle Chamber of Commerce May 13. Sea-Tac International Airport's "World Class Upgrade," covers more than one hundred planned projects.
The plan includes expansion of the airport garage -- Renovation of the airport's main terminal -- Renovation and expansion of a major concourse, creation of an "Inter-modal Center" to link the airport to automobile, bus and light rail transportation and construction of a new stand-alone North End Airport Terminal.
Greater Seattle Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Bob Watt said the planned airport renovation would play a vital role in the continued growth and prosperity of the Seattle area. "When the history of this region is written," Watt said, "the expansion of Sea-Tac airport will go down as one of those pivotal decisions that allowed the Seattle area to prosper in the 21st century because it allowed our high value-added services, goods and people to reach the rest of the world swiftly and reliably."
