i am a gold member with AA. i was at the site checking my miles (56,000 this year   ) when i saw this one world thing. it says all this jive about being a ruby, sapphire, and emerald status along with gold, platinum, and executive platinum. how do i become a gold member with ruby status?


here is the info-
Elite Member Benefits
When you qualify for elite member status, you receive a new AAdvantage card featuring a oneworld gemstone-colored symbol: Emerald (green) for Executive Platinum members, Sapphire (blue) for Platinum members and Ruby (red) for Gold members. With your new card, you will enjoy instant recognition and special privileges with all seven oneworld airlines, no matter where in the world you travel.

AAdvantage Gold members carrying a card with the Ruby symbol are entitled to these benefits across the oneworld network:
Priority check-in at Business Class desks (where available), regardless of the class of service flown that day
Preferred seating
Priority standby and wait listing.

AAdvantage Platinum members carrying a card with the Sapphire symbol are entitled to all of the above benefits plus, when flying internationally,¹ enjoy preferred boarding and entrance to all of the oneworld airlines' Business Class and airport lounges, regardless of the class of service flown!

AAdvantage Executive Platinum members showing a card with the oneworld Emerald symbol receive all of the benefits already mentioned, plus:
Entrance to more than 220 exclusive airline lounges in our network when traveling internationally, ¹ including First Class lounges, regardless of the class of service flown that day
Priority check-in at First Class check-in desks (where available), regardless of the class of service flown.

I just checked my gold card and there is a "ruby" elipse just below the "oneworld" circle on the lower right hand side of the card. This is what came from AA when I requalified for gold from last year.
