Which one do you prefer? Virgin's A340's or 747-400's on flights.

I don't know the names of all the Virgin A340's, but the 747-400's
are:

Austin Powered (formerly Ladybird)
Tinker Belle
Tubular Belle
Lady Penelope
Virginia Plain
Ruby Tuesday

Some of the A340's include Maiden Toulouse, Rainbow Lady, Lady
in Red, China Girl, Dragon Lady, Diana, Maiden Tokyo, Jetstreamer

My personal preference would be for VS's 747-400s. A wider cabin, faster cruising speed (get there faster) along with what I believe to be a better seating arrangement. Also, if I am not mistaken the -400s have a bar installed in first class? Not that that makes it better because I really don't drink anyway!

I can't decide. I like both. I like Virgin's Stand up bar on their 747s because it brings back the good ol days in which all 747 operators had them. Now I hope to see more. I like Virgin's 2x4x2 config on their A340 in economy becasu it's much more comfy and spacious than tha 2X5X2 or the 747's 3X4X3. It would be extremly dreadful if you were sitting in the middle of the 2X5X2 config when you're 5'11and you've litterally have no where to go with 2 people sitting on your left and right.

i have flown them both ... very nice aircraft with very accommadating seating. i recommend a journey that takes both aircraft. i had the pleasure of taking the A340 (JFK-LHR)
and the
747-400 (LHR-JFK)

Extremely Beautiful aircraft kept in pristine condition.

I took the "Lady in Red" and "China Girl" Hong Kong - London Heathrow-Hong Kong service and it was great. They were both A340-300's.
I recommend the A340s, i like the 2-4-2 seating arrangement. On "Upper" class there IS a bar on the A340. Every seat has 40 channels (HKG-LHR-HKG) and super nintendo in everyseat.
GREAT flight
highly recomend Virgin, no matter the if its a 747 or A340 but i pesonaly prefer the A340 and flown this 4 times round trips.
