They might be way off with this, but I heard on a local news show that WN could be looking at more gate space at PIT. The increase would be because WN is almost doubling its schedule out of PIT (from 10 flights to 19 flights). Gate 5A, right next to the 2 WN gates, is currently listed as a US Airways gate, but appears to be abandoned by US. I NEVER see any flights leave out of it. Could WN snatch up another PIT gate? Once again, this subject was talked about on a local radio talk show here in PIT.

Wny not? I say gof or it. If US was dumb enough to let PIT get away from them I say let WN have the gates.

WN already uses A5 for parking some RONs. I believe they'll be moving into it full-time shortly.

From what I understand WN will turn A5 from the RON gate it is now to a functional gate. As of right now A5 is still in US colors on the inside and is with out any computers. The gate will be renovated and then WN would probably use A7 as their new RON gate if they need it. If this occurs USexp will still use A7 through out the day and share it with WN.

I agree, Allegheny County would write the lease in a New York minute..

WN could have another 30 gates if they wanted them. Nothing's stopping them.
Yep. WN could have all of A and B if they want/need it someday. US could always take their little props back to E if gate space issues warranted it (HIGHLY doubtful, just speaking hypothetically) and keep the main terminal for real jets as it was planned originally back in the days of Commissioner Forrester. Although with the loss of a decent sized chunk of EAS traffic into PIT from Air Midwest now, US will be needing less space for express... and I have a feeling this might be just the beginning of EAS cuts... so US might give up even a few more.

Well not all of it; US does have 10 gates under long-term lease.
I'm the expert on here on two things, neither of which I care about much anymore.
