Hey Guys -
I was just wondering what international airlines, besides the US ones, have a base in the US for their pilots. (ex. Cathay Pacific, Eva Airways, Malaysia Ailines, British Airway, Japan Airlines etc........). An airline that would have a large fleet of different sorts of aircraft, especially the B744 or B772.

Thanks

In such a case an airline wouldn't be BASED in the US but they would employ local staff ... I think the chance of having cabin staff based in the US are bigger than for cockpit crews, especially for Asian carriers.

JALways: HNL base
Nippon Cargo: SFO/LAX base

These are the only ones I know off the top of my head. But these are actually contracted out positions. So I dont know if this is exactly what you are looking for.

The JALways and NCA bases are made up of contract pilots, but they are trained by the airline and carry company IDs issued by those airlines.

IB used to have a hub in MIA for many years. They had small airplanes (DC-9 and then A319) flying Central America-MIA and then connecting to 2 daily flights MIA-MAD. About 2 years ago, they decided to fly to SJO,GUA and PTY non-stop from MAD and discontinue MIA hub.

IB's MIA hub was dismantled as a result of the stricter US rules requiring visa's even for transit passengers. It became too much of a hassle.
