I'll be flying to JFK-CDG in February and wanted to determine if Biz class will have the New Concept seating. I assume that 77W aircraft have it and 772-ER do not; am I correct?

I'm confused: In this forum under AF WInter News, someone stated there will be a single 77W flight (6&7) three 772-ER flights. In FlyerTalk, someone said there will be none. However, Air France's downloaded timetable indicates two 77W flights (6&7 and 10/11). What's the real story?

Thanks

According to AF website, for December

AF062 CDG 10:15 - LAX 12:55 772 Fr Sa Su Mo
AF072 CDG 13:15 - LAX 15:55 772 Daily
AF070 CDG 19:30 - LAX 22:00 744 Su We Fr

Coherent with FlySSC info: 11 772 flights/week + 3 744 continuing to PPT.

thanks for the reply, but it didn't answer my two questions:
1. Are the new biz seat aircraft designated as 77W as opposed to 772?
2. I was asking about service out CDG/JFK in Feb, not LAX in December.

I don't know if this helps but none of the B777-200ER fleet is installed with the new interior. The A330-200, some A340s, and the B777-300ERs are installed with it.

If Air France's site indicates that flights 6/7 and 10/11 will be flown by the B777-300ER then I would assume it is true since they would know bceause they assign the plane to the routes.

Thanks. Does 77W indicate a B777-300ER and, if so, is that aircraft set up as a New Travel Concept plane?

Yes. 77W is the code for B777-300ER.
772 is the code for B777-200ER.

All the B77W are fitted with the "NEV" seats (New Travel Concept)
None of the B772ER have been reconfigured yet. The first B772ER planned to receive the new interior is F-GSPN and should go on maintenance for the modifications from Sept.26th to Oct.22nd 2005.
I don't know yet on which route it will be used first, after the modifications.

The B77W is scheduled to operate AF006/007 to/from JFK but not during all the winter season ...(normally until the first days of January) but this could change during the season ...
Actually, it's hard to predict in advance which type will fly where !
B772ER & B77W are served by the same cockpit and Cabin crew so it's very easy and simple for AF to change from an a/c type to the other according to a/c availability, booking, etc... just like withe athe A343/A332
Next sunday Sept.18, a B77W will be used on CDG-LBV, though normally a B772ER is schedulled on this line. Same thing on CDG-BEY this summer and on CDG-HKG sometimes...

I can confirm the schedule from the AF timetable/website. I tend to trust the airline's own website more than what's said in other forums. It's in the airline's best interest to publish an accurate timetable, although as we all know, schedules and forecasted aircraft types are always subject to change!

FlySSC

I don't mean to hijack the thread, however since you are very knowledgeable regarding AF's operations, I would like to ask you a question. I'm flying AF from YUL-DXB on Dec 20th coming back the 8/9th of Jan. For the YUL-CDG flight is the 1955 departure equiped with the new business class? And what about the flight to Dubai (A332)? Also, what about the return?

Thanks in advance.

Hello FLYSSC

Very interesting what you said about F-GSPN.
You were also talking in another tread that all AF B772ER will be the last aircraft type to be modified because they will receive an "enhanced" NEV interior (with the future A380). Is it the case for F-GSPN ?
I am surprised that AF starts to put their B772ER under maintenance for interior mofidications while there are still some A343 and B744 with the old interior configuration.

Flights to DXB are operated by a "classic" A332 with the 3 classes config.6P/42J/163Y

AF347 YUL-CDG is operated in December by an A340-300.
Not sure if you will have the full new configuration (with the new seats) or the "evolution" version. I'll try to have the information for you next time I go to CDG. (I am not working right now ... Holidays ! ).

I have to say that I am, myself, very confused and surprised.
We had this information two month ago about "enhanced" NEV interior (the A380's seats) for the B772ER.
and just a few weeks after, AF gave this agenda for the modification on all the fleet (document dated on Aug.29th 2005).
Concerning the B772ER :

F-GSPN : Sept.26 ---> Oct.22
F-GSPD : Oct.24 ---> Nov.12
F-GSPE : Nov.14 ---> Dec.3
F-GSPL : Dec.5 ---> Dec.24

Etc ...

I doubt they already have, now end 2005, the seats they will use for the A380 !
But we know also that AF receives quite a lot of complains from PAX traveling regularly on routes where AF is using modified & non-modified a/c like NRT*, JFK, YUL* as for the same price, they get according to the flight they chose, the NEV cabin or the "old" one.

It's just a personal speculation but I think it must be a good reason to finally speed up the modifications on ALL the fleet, and not wait another two years with NEV cabin on the A343/A332/B744/B773ER and old seats on ... the flagship B772ER.

*Ex : NRT
AF272 = A332 Not NEV
AF276 = B772ER Not Nev
AF278 = B77W NEV

YUL :

AF344 = B77W NEV
AF346 = B744 NEV
AF348 = A332 NOT NEV

Marco, I have the answer to your question :

AF347 on Dec.20th should be operated by an A343 with a NEV cabin version of 36J/236Y.

I find it interesting (and very halpful) that some of you especially FLTSSC has detailed info on AF's modification program. Is this public info and, if so, can it be viewed on the web? An Aug. 29 document is mentioned. Can it be viewed?

And again, I'll ask, if the AF downloaded schedule shows a JFK-CDG flight being flown by a 77W, should I rely on that short of a last minute operational switch of aircraft?

No. It's not a public info. Not available on the web.
It was released to AF's pursers/Chief pursers in an internal news.

If you want/need any information concerning the modification program, just e-mail me.
