The german retailer "Karstadt" launches a special offer for customers buying one of their winter-jackets at 199 Euros.
The tricky part is that they throw in a free ticket from any of 5 german airports to New York.
Partner seems to be American Airlines.

Hope it doesn't backfire on them like that promotion that a vacuum cleaner manufacturer (Hoover?) ran a few years ago that promised an airline ticket with the purchase of a vacuum cleaner. They severely underestimated the percentage of customers who would redeem the offer (not that it was a particular sound one to begin with, giving a ticket away that was more valuable than the vacuum cleaner itself), and were swamped. To their credit, the manufacturer honored all requests, but it cost them something like $50 or $60 million, and assured that the entire fiasco would be a case study in business textbooks...

...Oh, and be prepared to travel on a Saturday night at 2100 returning on the Monday from NY at 0900, oh and you can't fly between, 26 Oct - 10 Nov, 15 Dec-06 Jan and any and all school/bank/public holidays, no travel on a Friday or Sunday, and most importantly you must have a granny that was related to the man who was the owner of the Irish Wolfhound who bit the British Corporal soldier in the Easter Rising between the English and the Irish in Dublin in 1916.

I always look on such promos with a sense of "too good to be true?", and generally they are! (Unless you can fulfil and endless barrage of terms and conditions that is!)

Edit for (multiple) typos....it's late!

well I am also sure they will put the passengers on the not well booked flights.... but ok the price is still very good... also for low-travel season.

As long as I get status miles for my AAdvantage account, I would have no problems with that! I would even book another flight to fly through the night to save the money for a hotel and to collect additional miles!
