Been looking at a trip to the Keys for January and am using a discounted rate through one of the local alliances with American Eagle and a ground handling company. I know the standard AE Embraer 135 service to JFK, but we're on a 757 to MIA then an ATR 72 to they keys. On the way up from MIA on the way back it's the A300.
Any ideas, comments on these routes?
- chronic delays
- better seats (we're all over 6')
- tips for JFK and MIA?

Both the 757 and A300 Have the crappy old style interior without MRTC. IFE is basically old CRT TVs with CBS's Eye on American. Take your own headsets or you will have to pay 3 bucks for them. Dont expect any service on the flights other than drinks.
If you are staying in MIA a few days or hours and can leave the airport I recomend the Hooters on 107th AVE NW, you can sit outside and look at planes landing on R9 or 8R, And they pass almost directly overhead at about maybe 150 feet. not SXM but its OK!
In key west if you go to Sloopy Joes dont drink the RUM RUNNER, taste's like robitussin. Go to the sunset deck, get their early so you can have a seat by the sea, sunset is gourgeous, with an Ice Cold Corona and some oysters.....

The ATR72 is a very interesting craft, from the faded, peeling paint to the rear entry of the plane. Remember get the front row seat is not the best seat in the house. Sit in the far back, where you will be first off the plane and will get to have conversation with the Cubanita F/A's
As for Key West, it really has some cool spotting, spend some time near the FBO ramp.

I've heard the MIA-JFK-MIA Airbus flights are chronically late. As for times, these flights we've chosen get us into EYW early (enough time to prep for an evening at 801 Bourbon!) and then on the way home it's the only flight options that get us into YHZ the same day.
I remember old Air Atlantic Dash 7's that had the rear entry door...it is sort of weird.

As for 757, try to get exit the exit rows, row 9 is the best, 10A or 10F is the best seat ever, nice view outside the window and great legroom, 17 and 18 are very nice.
A300, exit row (27) is not so good and it is always pre-reserved by Platinums and Golds, the good seats are either rows 4, 5 or 6 (although 6 gets complaints that the F/As manuever the trolleys to go from one side to the other, but given the fact that you will not be fed, it's ok!)
