Any Possibility That QR Would Join Star Alliance?

Just out of curiousity, with all of the code-sharing that Star Alliance members do with Qatar Airways, why haven't they just joined up with Star?

As far as I know, they meet all the criteria, so any thoughts as to why?

QR certainly seem to be the most likely middle eastern airline to join *A.

I think it would be possible to see QR in Star Alliance!

QR codeshare with LH, LX, TG and NH!

All of which are Star Airlines, Star Alliance could do with a middle Eastern airline to expand their route network!

I think QR is a better option than EK or EY for Star!

Also they are expanding at a pretty quick rate, I hope we see them soon!

Don't forget that, although it is not a codeshare, flights booked to Doha using US Airways are also often serviced by QR, using US's LGW connection. Also, if the listing does not actually show QR, it will show an LH flight, operated by QR.
