Since the UN met this past week SWF became a parking area for some of the VIP planes. The Thai MD-11, Korean Air B747-400, Cameroon B767-300, Baharian B747SP, Swiss DC-8, Ecuitorial Guniea B737-700, Togolaise 707, Gulf B727 and a couple of other visitors where parked during the week. SWF also recived some diversions from EWR, JFK, and LGA this week due to bad weather. The diversions where 2 Continental B737-500s, 1 Continental B737-800, 1 Continental Express ERJ-145, 1 American B767-300, 1 American B757-200, 1 American MD-82, and 1 LAN B767-300.

Unfortunatley during the week I did not have a chance to go down and see all of these wonderfull planes since I had school, piano, soccer, etc, etc.

I checked Flytecomm for this weekend to see if anything interesting was going to be flying in for pick up of the UN people and it turned out that a MEA A330-200 was going to fly in today so I decided to go see that land. When I got to SWF to my surprise some of the VIP planes like the Cameroon B767-300, Swiss DC-8, Togolaise 707, a B727, and a MD-80 where still there.

Here are some pics:

For those interested, its seems that the white B747 is an ex-Air France plane, precisely B747-228B F-GCBA 21982/428.

As always, correct me if I'm wrong.

Regards.

Quoting AlitaliaMD11 (Thread starter):
and it turned out that a MEA A330-200 was going to fly in today

Alitalia MD11, can you tell what the flight number was? Was it a regular ME code? Anyhow, never knew that MEA will be sending an A330 for the president!

What about other leaders? Did they land in the same aiport? Could any one have landed in JFK or LGA?

Interesting... Wish i'm in NYC now..

I think that the MEA flight # was 7001. The plane came in directly from Beirut with no stop at JFK. Most of the planes stopped at JFK first and dropped off who ever they where carrying. Planes where being stored in a couple of places along the east coast like IAG and BWI.

In a lot of different places! I shot the MEA landing from the Cessna building parking lot which is on the other side of the airport from the terminal, I shot the other VIPs from near the terminal. I shot the B747 and the Cameroon B767-300 as well as the Togolaise B707 from the security gate before I got caught and was asked not to take photos on the fence.

BTW thanks for all the nice comments about the photos! Question, do any of them look Airliners.net quality?

Also, does anybody know what happend to the ex KLM (PH-BUN) B747-200 that was being stored at SWF? Did it get chopped up?

Again great pics Big grin

I think photos 2, 4 and 5 are, and maybe 8! But they may need editing for a.net!

I think also number 1 if a crop is made!

According to Airfleets, PH-BUN was registered to Southern Air Transport as N726SA 20/04/2004, and scrapped 12/2004.

I was hoping for some pictures of MEA at JFK, nevertheless, great shots AlitaliaMD11!
Hope to see MEA flying back to the USA in the near future as a regular scheduled airline...or is it too wishful thinking?
