What are the proposed routes for Taca's new A321's? Is the engine rating in the IAEs Taca chose enough to let them take off at MTOW from GUA or LIM? I was thinking that the A321 could be VERY benefitial in the LAX-GUA-SJO route as everytime I use that flight it is oversold. I know that the take off performance of the -200 was improved, but is it enough for Taca's routes?

The initial A321 will operate SAL-MGA-MIA during the day and a SAL-LAX redeye.
The first aircraft is due for arrival in San Salvador this Friday on delivery from Hamburg with the second one following in November.
The aircraft will feature a seating configuration of 12/182, with a new IFE system.
TACA has also quietly converted additional A320 options and now plans on having a total of five aircraft. Future deliveries are planed for March and April 2006, with the final example yet to be termined in 2007 or 2008.

We´ve discussed that a lot, and most of the times we agree that we would love it, but it just not the way the company is directed at the moment.

A-321 SE UNE A LA FLOTA MÁS NUEVA DE AMÉRICA
Desde la fábrica de Airbus en Hamburgo, ciudad situada al norte de Alemania, hasta nuestra base en El Salvador recibiremos, este viernes 23 de septiembre, la primera aeronave A-321 en Latinoamérica. El A-321 ofrece las mismas ventajas tecnológicas y de confort que las de la familia Airbus A-320, pero con una mayor capacidad. Ésta es la primera de cinco aeronaves de su tipo que se incorporarán a nuestra flota. El Lic. Kriete expresó que “además de innovar en aspectos de capacidad, rendimiento y tecnología, ésta adquisición nos da la oportunidad de mejorar estándares de servicio.”
Además, la fábrica italiana de asientos para automóviles Recaro, con más de 100 años de experiencia y reconocida a nivel mundial por sus asientos “premium”, diseñó los asientos de la cabina para que sean más cómodos, de mejor calidad y se obtenga una mejor utilización del espacio. Asimismo, la configuración de asientos dentro de la aeronave, permite albergar a un total de 194 usuarios: 12 en Clase Ejecutiva y 182 en Clase Turista.
Así también, con el respaldo de la marca Panasonic, el nuevo sistema de audio y de video será digital (con DVD) y con una pantalla de alta resolución y 10 pulgadas más grande. Este nuevo sistema permitirá que las luces de cabina, la temperatura, algunos suministros e inclusive indicadores de seguridad se controlen digitalmente también.
Nuestro primer A-321 es la aeronave de mayor capacidad de la familia de Airbus A-320, con un largo de 44.51 metros y un ancho de 34.10 metros. Debido a su gran tamaño cuenta con un total de ocho puertas (cuatro de acceso y cuatro de emergencia) – el doble de puertas de los A-319 y de los A-320. Además, viene equipado con un tanque de combustible adicional ubicado en el compartimiento de carga trasero – que incrementa la capacidad de combustible en 2,277 Kg. , así como el alcance de la aeronave.
Nuestro primer A-321 operará los siguientes vuelos desde su hub en El Salvador:
·Desde y hacia la ciudad de Los Ángeles
·Desde y hacia Miami vía Managua, Nicaragua
Son cinco los equipos A-321 que servirán a nuestra flota - el primero, comenzando en septiembre de este año. El segundo, arribará en noviembre de este mismo año; el cuarto, en marzo y en abril del 2006 y, el quinto, entre el 2007 y el 2009 (fecha aún no definida).
El Lic. Kriete agregó que “por el momento ya hemos comenzado a recibir los nuevos equipos y contamos con veinticuatro A-320 y nueve A-319.” Es importante resaltar que nuestra flota estandarizada permite que nuestros pilotos, personal de mantenimiento y tripulaciones de cabina pueden operar en cualquiera de las aeronaves.

Sweet... Those are two high-load routes, I'm sure the A321 will work perfectly!

Have not seen anything listed for aircraft #2 yet. However as it will be arriving just in time for the year end peak period, its likely to be deployed on US flights, possibly as with the first aircraft to LA and Miami.
