I was in Greenville, South Carolina a couple of weeks ago, having gone ALB-CLT-GSP and returning through CLT (all legs USAirways 737-400). What was once a 7000 ft. runway is now 11,000 ft. BMW has its North American Assembly plant in the same town (Greer). I was told that 747 cargo variants are regularly into GSP at night, bringing in fully assembled engines for the Z3 and the new BMW SUV. When taking off on our return I noticed a large apron area near the end of RWY 22 with large 747 type cargo containers. Who are the airlines flying cargo 747s into GSP? Anybody know?

I would assume that since the engines are coming from Germany, the carrier would likely be Luftansa Cargo. They fly 747-200Fs. I've seen them in Detroit. I guess it could also be a number of other operators, but Luftansa Cargo would be my most logical guess.
