It doesn't sound like a big deal, but they called it an emergency landing.

http://www.nydailynews.com/front/bre...ng_news/story/348822p-297631c.html

"According to Jet Blue spokeswoman Jenny Dervin, Flight No. 32 departed from Tampa, Fla., at 11:56 a.m. Thursday. As the plane was preparing to land at JFK, the pilot 'received an indication the (flaps) were locked,' she said. 'Following procedure, the pilot declared an emergency landing.' "

If it weren't for yesterday, this would get zero coverage.

Surely a "precautionary" landing, not an emergency landing?

All we know is that the word "emergency" came from a jetBlue spokesperson.

It interesting how New Yorkers take this all in stride as a tiny news item, while the people in LA went totally nuts over yesterday's incident. Makes me proud to be a New Yorker. Big grin

It may have been a tiny news item, but it was on within the first 5 minutes of the WABC TV News at 6PM tonight! Prior to the above, we got to see 262 landing "again".

It was certaily spectacular looking. Hollywood couldn't have done it better.

Did feel sorry for the passengers who appeared to have been watching the whole thing in the plane while it was happening to them

Wednesday's flight with the crippled landing gear also was destined for New York City.

Ok, this is jetBlue.

Ya think it was going to NYC?

I feel the same way. I was on a flight that had something of the same, but it was the engine. They told us that it was nothing but they had the fire trucks out when we got there.
My Dad was talking with the pilot after and he said that is was a oil clog. Nothing but something big a 30,000 feet. It might have been nice to see what was going on as the fire trucks came after us. I have never seen something that big and not a plane (or something like it) go that fast.

Lol, we know that, but does everybody in NYC know that?
