There have been a lot of speculations about the 4th and 5th B777s to be acquired by AI. Does anybody have 'insider' info. Really missing the inputs of Sean.

An airplane might disappoint any pilot but it'll never surprise a good one.

They're getting them alright. I was in AI Building to meet their PRO on some work and he said that 4 and 5 will come and they will increase the frequency of the 'Sardarji Express' once they do. God knows where they're getting them from, even though there is one theory that SQ might be offloading their oldest 200ER's once they start getting their 300ER's (in true SQ style). Won't be surprising since AI ends up with a lot of ex-SQ a/c.
Careful with these comments! I made a similar one and received an acrimonious delition notice.. Yes, also I miss them (and I probably speak for 99 % of Indian anetters), and now we will have to rely on discussions regarding new routes of AA from DFW to SEA

This would be good for AI - getting the a/c from anywhere - even if ancient SQ ones. They'd still be the only way for AI to get it's act together until the GOI signs off on their actual order.

btw, What about the flights to SYD? Has AI given up on SYD for the timebeing?
Over the thumb 3-weekly SYD should be possible with the addition

Heard long back that IC was designated for SYD. But then your guess is as good as mine.

And enter the Kangaroo route they will! Something they should have done ages ago.

Believe me, you and the other Desi anetters aren't the only ones missing Mr. Mendis' input! Still, he can be found on Flyertalk.
Back to the topic at hand, I expect SFO will be announced shortly before service begins, in true AI style! I doubt if they'll throw a big party for local agents when the service is announced, like FI did, but hey I can dream!

AI would certainly be an interesting alternative on the Kangaroo route!

I know this is a tad of topic... but have any of you any idea what the most recent AI 747-400 (ex-SQ) has been registered as? And what name was she given? The ship was pictured here within the last two weeks ago.
Thanks in advance,
