I got my QR Privillege club package in the mail today. In it is says that QR will be spending $100 Million to integrate satelite TV into the exisitng IFE on all of their 330s!
They state that they are the first international airline to do this. Strictly speaking that's not true because WestJet flies to the US. They are however the first major airline and certainly the first intercontinental airline to dothis.
The installaion will be done "by the end of the year" by Lufthansa Technik.
Any ideas of if other major carriers plan to follow suit?
Does anyone else find it odd that their other birds have no PTVs in economy?

Quoting YOWza (Thread starter): Does anyone else find it odd that their other birds have no PTVs in economy?
All of QR's A330's have PTV's in economy, but some have the old seat and some have the newer thinner seats!
All of the A330-300's and newer A330-200's have BBC and Al Jazzera news live, although mine didn't work to DOH (ex.LHR)! The A330-200 I had from DOH-BKK had the older seats but still had PTV's with the same stuff on it!
What does QR currently have on the A330-300's?
Apparently this has already taken place on a few aircarft, true?

Quoting N1120A (Reply 2): Are they using LiveTV or some other technology?
I'm not sure what the technology is. Anyone here from LH Technik or QR with any more info?
Just to clairfy I meant their non-330s did not have PTVs in economy. I recently flew SAH-DOK-KTM in econ and had no PTV at all! This to me is odd they are adding more and more short hops ex DOH to holiday spots such as NBO (on the A300) don't you think holiday makers in Y want a little entertainment in flight?
