Why All The New Mexico Applications?

It seems like there is a whole bunch of DOT applications for service to Mexico amongst all the airlines. Will it cause over capacity in the markets?? Or is there a genuine demand for all this service. It just seems that every morning I wake up, I find a new application.

Right now, the demand is there, so no over-capicity. Cancun is starting to get to a point where there could be too many flights. (just my opinion)

Man, I hate how the message board capitalizes all letters in a thread's title ... I keep thinking this stuff about "New Mexico Service" is about new flights to ABQ, SAF, FMN, HOB, etc.

Short answer: BIG NO.

Big answer: Expect more flights into CUN airport in the following years!!! Last year CUN airport reported over 10M pax. This year CUN will reach something near to 11M pax. They will soon built a new runway and new pax and cargo apron, by 2010 they intend to reach 16-17M pax. By 2015, CUN airport expects to handle something between 20 and 25M pax.
