Source USA Today: Frontier Airlines to pull out of New Orleans: The Denver-based low-cost carrier is the first to permanently discontinue service to New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. The airline had planned to resume service, but says conditions following the storm have forced it to change plans. "We just didn't know if the demand between Denver and New Orleans would be great enough in the foreseeable future," Frontier spokesman Joe Hodas tells The Denver Post. Frontier relies largely on leisure passengers to make its New Orleans flights profitable. And, with New Orleans tourism likely to be down for the foreseeable future, the airline said on its website that "it became clear to Frontier that service would not be a viable option in the near future." Still, Hodas adds that flights to New Orleans could be resumed "at some point in the future."

Yes, one of our better known members (and a great guy), MSYTristar works as a CSR for F9 at MSY. Hopefully Frontier will be able to take care of him at another base if Steve decides to move on and stay with the company.

As far as the airline goes, we've known for a couple of weeks that they wouldn't be back for at least six months. As we all know, airline routes and schedules are all very fluid, and as the city of New Orleans gets repopulated (don't forget that the city itself has about 500,000 population, while the metro area has roughly 1.5 million, most areas of which have already been repopulated and business and industry moved or moving back in) and the business and tourist industry gets back in gear, Frontier and other airlines that have yet to return (UA and US being the primary ones) will indeed be returning in droves.

Thats really too bad, as they were pulling some very good loads to MSY.
I think their tour & vacation division has really been looking at adding BZN
with Ski packages etc.

Hey guys...i'm in MSY for the next few days...been helping out some relatives with cleanup and my friends...some of them lost everything, the damage in some parts of the city is amazing. Pictures do not do it justice.
I'm going back to DEN on Monday. Will be there at least semi permanently. It's a nice place and everyone with the airline has been great.
