There were two of these beautiful Russian beasts in MCO parked close to each other wednesday afternoon. The first flight came I think from Alaska, stopping in Canada, the other one from Europe via the Canadian East coast.

The first one departed to Caracas, Venezuela around 6.pm. I saw some cargo with a yellow and green cover, maybe some sort of engine but it looked maybe too big to be for an airplane.. coudln't really tell what it was.

Anyone knows why these 2 monsters were at MCO?

That makes sense, I didn't think about that. However, if it's for NASA I would think they would land at Patrick Air Force base (these Volga-Dnepr AN-124s have landed there before) and it's a lot closer to Port Canaveral. Still doesnt really explain why it went to Venezuela.

Dani, I wouldn't know, I'm sure there are MCO people reading this but they're either not members of the site or are too lazy or paranoid share. As big as MCO is there's almost nobody there that posts in these forums and it's a very paranoid and nonsensical airport when it comes to aviation enthusiasts. I did notice some police around the monsters but again, maybe they had nothing better to do, since nothing ever happens there.

There was another An-124 that came in about a month ago. Other than that, these aircraft don't come into MCO this often.

There were two here a few years ago bringing in parts from Austria for an IPSCO steel mill....the six engine bugger flew over my place!

I was sitting in a chair reading a magazine and a huge shadow fell over the window along with a roar like a laundromat full of scrap iron passing overhead....there it was like a barn with wings.....missed my opportunity to grab some photos....

by "here" you mean MCO? The -225 Mriya came in about 2 years ago, AFIK the only time it has been in Florida, I wasn't in town to see it though but there are photos of it on a.net.

Just putting out an idea, but could they be for Lockheed Martin ? As i'm pretty sure at there facility in Orlando is where they do a lot of missile research and I was reading in a newspaper that this is where they where doing a lot of the 'Star Wars' project.

I could be complelty off course on that one but thought i'd ask anyway,

No, those fly into KSC, they don't bring NASA equipment into MCO.

One 124 was bringing in parts for a nuclear reactor, the other was on a fuel stop.

The one that went to Caracas, VDA4220 was RA-82042, just in case anyone is interested.
