Why The Supports In This Pic Of Scrapped A300?

This A300 is being scrapped. The supports on the sections cut away seem to have been attached to stop it falling apart. What's the point if it's being scrapped? You don't see this in any of the graveyards in the US.

Could be because the parts cut away are allowing better access to parts that are wanted and help the removal more easily.

I think not, check out the "griding" spanning the hole where a door should be. If this structure was part of the original airframe as you would seem to think, there would be a gap for the door on the front left hand portion. This support structure has been added after scrapping.

Perhaps its just to stop idiots falling out when they climb inside for a look see.

If you look at some older photos of this aircraft at Rhodos airport, you caan see that the cut out openings are covered with plastic. The only access was the door in the middle. So I would say that the metal frame was there to keep the plastic covers in place, but then maybe the wind blew them away (or there were taken down on purpose, who knows..)

By the way, in 2002 we saw the tail of this A300 stored at Bournemouth airport...

Wouldnt the structure need reinforcing if you are taking big lumps out from it?

If you consider when builders take out a load bearing wall, they put stands in to hold the weight, so that it doesnt collapse and they can continue the work.

I would imagine that more work has been done on the airframe since the cutting, and so in order to maintain some structural integrity whilst other work is carried out, those supports have been added, to allow people to work safely.
