I've seen some really great photos. I am wondering where you go to get your pictures, since it seems like the shots that you take can't be taken simply from inside the terminal. The closest airport to me is DTW and I've found that you can take some really great shots of landings at the end of the D, E, and F councourses. Speaking of Detroit, is it really as bad as everybody has been saying? DTW is not as good as say, SFO, but it wasn't any worse than Phoenix, or in my opinion Las Vegas(I went there before the new concourse opened).

Yes, you can plane-spot from inside the Terminals...especially in the brutal winters of Detroit. But other places to go are in roads and/or parking lots surrounding the runways for a great view. Some airports, like MIA & IAD, you can get real close. But my experience when I lived in Detroit was there isn't a good place to park that is real close. I don't know if they've changed that area in the last few years. Also, some airports have a specific observation deck, which if i remember correct DTW has.

I always used to make use of a observation area at the threshold to Runway 21R. There is a small gravel parking lot at the permiter fence, which is directly on the extended runway centerline. Bring your earplugs!!
